Hi everyone,

I need advice regarding Spouse Open Work Permit (SOWP). I applied for my wife's tourist visa in January but to date, there have been no updates on her application, which is understandable given the current travel restrictions.

I am thinking to withdraw that application and apply for SOWP instead. Can anyone advise if this is a good decision? Since Canada is opening the border to international tourists in September, I am not sure if I should cancel my wife's tourist visa now.

Did anyone apply for SOWP recently? If so, how long did it take to get approval?

Better to apply for SOWP if:-
1. She is working (experience) (payslips)
2. Bank balance can be shown to meet the initial expenses.
3. Hope you both have spent good time together after marriage. Attached the marriage proofs.
4. Strong SOP justifying the application and that both will return to home country

Do you think I should withdraw the tourist visa application and apply for SOWP? I've waited for 9 months for the TRV, maybe it will be processed soon? That's why I'm on the fence as to whether I should cancel it now.
