NEWS FOR TFW UNDER FOOD SERVICE SECTOR....

Employment and Social Development Minister Jason Kenney recently announced that some occupations in the food services industry would no longer be eligible for Labour Market Opinions (LMOs). Receiving an LMO is an important first step for securing many temporary work permit applications.

Today, an official list of ineligible occupations was announced. No new LMO applications will be received for occupations in this list. In addition, LMO applications that have yet to receive a decision will be cancelled. Employers will receive full refunds of processing fees.

Any unused positions on positive LMOs that have been issued to employers for these sectors will be suspended, and therefore will may no longer be used to obtain an additional work permit. Minister Kenney has not specifically stated if and when the moratorium will end, although he mentioned that the government was investigating abuses of the temporary foreign worker program in the food services sector.

yeah its weird decision taken by canadian govt.....becoz of this people who had already filed application under these categories suffered alot.... now pending applications are put on hold ....many tfw who already in canada also suffered by this decision..........

Hi Fasuu. Sorry. Not ignoring your question but I am in sizzling Singapore this month and not monitoring forum. Don't know for sore, but from what I read I think they put a hold on all LMO that haven't been processed and perhaps WP approvals too. I don't know how long this can last as there have to be many legitimate employers who cannot get Locals in lower paying jobs when high paid jobs are available. Keep hanging in there.

My Name is Dhawal Kedar. I am a Hot Air Balloon Pilot based in Pune. I have applied for TWP in LMO category on 16th April 2014 with Pune VFS. Till now haven't got any update and tracking service just says that Visa is under process with Delhi Embassy. I was suppose to join the company in Canada by 2nd week of May but till now no news. Can anyone please let me know what is the average visa process time? I have already same opportunity last year due to Visa officer strike. I don't want to loose it again. Any way i can expedite the process?

Guys any help in this regard will be appreciated.

Hi everyone,

This is a very helpful thread Thanks everyone for keeping it updated. I have applied for work permit for me and my wife from Vfs Mumbai on
27th March, We didn't get any status update till may, on May 9th we got the mail for getting the medical examination. The medical reports have been submitted on 17th May. So far there is no update, the company had already booked the tickets for 25th may which clearly is not going to happen, I don't know how much time its going to take from here. I have mailed CIC and Vfs but no updates from them either. Does anyone have any idea on how much time it may take after the medical.
