Firstly, it's my opinion that you can write a letter to CIC explaining that you had a civil marriage and that you can provide pictures of that day at the court/local office. Provide a notarised copy of the marriage certificate. You may also provide one or more of the below:

1) Joint account statements
2) other joint financial responsibility like a loan or joint utility bills / joint insurance policy.
3) Lease agreement with both your names on it.
4) If you've added each other as beneficiary on the life insurance policy, you can show that
5) Any joint club memberships, invitations to social events etc
6) Pictures of you in social functions, with family etc
7) Any joint travel you might have undertaken
8) Affidavit (Relationship statement) - A notarised document in which you mention the history of your relationship - how you met, how your relationship developed, when you married, your living arrangement, joint financial responsibilities you've taken on, any period of separation etc. This is generally for de facto relationships, you might not have to do this.

Just a guideline, other forum members please comment

Thank you for detailing it, vishsang - very helpful

Canada
Escalation of Government Labor Dispute May Affect Overseas Application Processing
June 7, 2013
Members of Canada’s Foreign Service Officers Union, which includes immigration and visa officers abroad, walked off the job Thursday at some of Canada’s busiest diplomatic missions and overseas processing centers. This escalation of an ongoing labor dispute may affect the processing of Temporary Resident Visa and work permit applications submitted to diplomatic posts overseas. Overseas immigration processing might be subject to delays until the labor actions end.

Approximately 100 union members participated in the walk out, including staffers at consular posts in London, Tokyo, Paris, and Hong Kong and visa processing centers in China and India.

At this time, there is no indication how long the labor actions will last or whether they might escalate into a full work stoppage.

Hai Varsha,

Before getting call from CHC, have you done any e-mail communication with CHC?
With-in-a oneweek same thing happened to 2-persons.you and Sudhakar.
This is ridiculous at-least they should call you by phone even after sending e-mail instead of wasting all precious months.

So what is the procedure if we haven't got any communication even after 3-months from the date of applying?

Thanks
avm
