Hi ,
I got the following reply from CHC, ND today..can't get anything meaningful out of it
Dear Sir/Madam,
This is in response to your recent email enquiry to the Immigration Section of the High Commission of Canada in New Delhi.
If you have an application in process at this office, you may find information about our processing times at this link: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/india-inde/visas/processing_times-durees_traitement.aspx.
You can also go to this Web page for processing times of all Canadian visa offices:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/index.asp.
Note that if a file is being processed within the time frames cited on the website, we will not respond to status queries.
Please note that the volume of applications received and the complexity of individual applications can cause processing times to be longer in some cases. This is often due to circumstances beyond our control. We appreciate your patience. We will contact you if any further information is required in order to complete the processing of your application.
Reasons Why Some Applications Take Longer to Process:
If your application has exceeded the posted processing times for the category in which you applied, it may be due to any of the following factors:
- The volume of applications received has exceeded our capacity to process them within the processing times posted on the website. This occurs particularly during the spring and summer peak season when more than 1000 new applications can be received in one day from across India and Nepal, but unexpected surges in application volumes can occur at any time. Please be assured that applications are processed on a first in, first out basis, and we are processing them as efficiently as we can.
- It has been determined that an interview will be required in order to make a decision on your application. Our office will send you a letter with instructions.
- It has been determined that a medical examination will be required before a visa or permit can be issued for you to go to Canada. Our office will send you the necessary medical form and instructions.
- It has been determined that additional information is required before we can finalize your application. Our office will conduct any necessary research and, if any documents are required, our office will send you a request letter.
- Background checks are required in before a visa can be issued for you to go to Canada. These checks normally take 10 or more working days to complete, and are mandatory for certain applicants. Our office will contact you if any further information is required, or as soon as we can proceed with processing to advise you of the next steps.
Instructions to Withdraw your Application:
If you cannot wait for processing to be completed because you require your passport for urgent travel for humanitarian and compassionate reasons only, you may withdraw your application for a Canadian visa or permit. To do so, please send a request to our office in writing, by replying to this email. Please be sure to provide your correct contact information (telephone number, mailing address, and email address) with your request. Urgent requests for return of passports for other reasons, such as business or personal travel, cannot be accommodated.
If you submitted your application through a VFS Visa Application Centre, your passport will be returned there. If you sent in your application by mail, your passport will be returned to you by Registered mail. If you applied in person at our office, we will contact you to let you know when you can pick up your passport.
Please note that the fee you paid when you submitted your application was for processing. If you withdraw your application, the fee cannot be refunded. If, in future, you wish to proceed to Canada, you will need to submit a new application.
We trust that this information will be of assistance. Immigration Section / Section de l’immigration 4
