Hi, this question is about Q6 on the from IMM1344E (sponsor) and i am not 100% sure what to put here, hopefully someone could help shed some light on this in my situation. Saw a few topics on this, while helpful, couldn't fully relate to my case.

Question 1
I am processing a PR application (i am a Swedish citizen, and my wife is Canadian and would be listed as the sponsor) While i have ruled out that she is not "Canadian citizen by birth" or "Canadian citizen by descent" i am not sure if she would be...

a) "Naturalized Canadian citizen"; or; b) "Permanent Resident"

My sponsor/wife was born in Hong Kong and she with her family moved to Canada when she was 8 years old. She went through school there, and hold a Canadian passport. Technically, i think both fit her, but not sure which one to put.

Question 2
Since she moved to Canada when she was young, does that mean that she would have received a UCI / Client ID already? (just that we haven't found it yet among her paperwork)

appreciate any help on this, tnx

1 - she is a citizen. PRs and Citizen are 2 different categories. If she has a Canadian passport, she is a citizen. If she was not born in Canada or from Canadian parents, she is a naturalised citizen.

2 - UCI has not been around for very long, so chances are that she doesn't have a number. It doesn't really matter. Leave that part blank - if she does have one, CIC will find it. If she doesn't (most likely), then CIC will create one for her.

Lycka til! :)

1. It sounds like she's a naturalized Canadian citizen. This means she wasn't a citizen when she was born but became a Canadian citizen later. "Canadian citizen by descent" would mean she was born Canadian because one of her parents was Canadian.

2. If she was naturalized in 1973 or later, then she has a UCI. It would appear on her record of landing (if issued in 1973 or later) and on her citizenship certificate.

I think it's extremely likely that she can leave this blank if she doesn't know it and can't find it.

thank you guys! very helpful, quick question (and rather than creating a new thread, would you happen to know the below) To, me this would be the total fee i should pay now to complete this application? there is a section about principal applicant under 22 ($75) family member 22 or older ($550) and unmarried family member ($150)

But don't think these applies to me? Is it right to that i understand that the below structure is all i am after?

Processing fees
Sponsor (my wife) $75
Principal applicant (me) $475

Right of Permanent Residence Fee
Principal applicant (Spouse/common-law partner) (me) $ 490

total $1,040, done deal

yes - if your wife is only sponsoring you, then the total is $1040. You can always opt out of paying the $490 RPRF and pay it later, but it will delay your file. So - pay everything now, and just wait!

There is a spreadsheet for applicants going through London ( if you're Swedish, that's your VO), in my signature if you want to have a better idea of timeline.. and there is also a thread, where you can get support for anything related to the process in London (well, as far as we know, because as you might have noticed, it's not a very transparent one!).

Good luck!

thank you for verifying "Sweden" greatly appreciated!

Actually i am going though the Hong Kong office, not London (as i have lived here for more than a year now) Read that if you had lived somewhere longer than a year you could use that countries office for processing.

Final think i am struggling with right now is the Police checks, to me its clear that i need to submit police checks included with the application. And i am not sure what to do about obtaining a Hong Kong police certificate. (i have lived in Sweden, USA, UK & Hong Kong for the last 10 years)

Sweden - got info from site, PDF applied today for the police report
USA - same, i have lived in 2 states, but seemed to be done by FBI on a national basis, so should cover both states
UK - got info from site, PDF applied today for the police report

Hong Kong - Says i need to apply for it, but then i need to wait for original letter from the Canadian Consulate General requesting me to complete the police check. But then the guidelines says i need to include police checks for each place i have lived for longer than 6 years, so which one is it? should i just omit getting a Hong Kong police report? and then wait for Canadian Consulate General to ask me to go get one?

"cant post the link to Hong Kong instructions for police report for some reason, not allowed"

thankful for any light on this issue :)

I'm guessing, but I'd say you probably send the application without the police certificate and wait to be contacted by the visa office.

If you can't get a better answer here, then call the CIC call centre.
