Hey,

As Ashsher said, there's no way of knowing. You just have to be patient. If they need anything more from you, they will contact you. You have done your part.
If processing time exceeds the 27 months (rarely does it take this long to process an application) then you can have your sponsor contact their MP to inquire about your file.
I hope you get some good news soon!

Are you re-applying for visitor visa or visitor record? I talked to CIC about my case today (I have a visitor record that is expiring and a valid visitor visa for the next few years), and they advised me that while my application is in process, I have to remain in status by having a visitor record. My visa is irrelevant, as it only allows me to come into the country, but not to stay here. I hope this helps!

Jambo Jambo! You're right, I think I will just wait for my fingerprints to arrive and then send the complete application package. It's just that not being able to travel and see my family for almost another year gets to me sometimes, but I am fortunate to at least be with my husband in Canada. This forum has definitely kept me going. Thanks for all the feedback!

Thank you! Yes, I have applied to extend my visitor record for the second time now as the first one expired. I was confused before as well between extending a visitor visa and visitor record because CIC has titled the form "Extension of TRV" so my first thought was that I am extending my visa until some people on this forum were kind enough to point out the difference. My TRV has expired in July of last year but since then, I have been renewing my visitor record.

I am thinking about applying for a new TRV through Kenya so that I can leave and enter Canada again but some people have suggested not to take the chance as the immigration office could refuse my entry at any time. I'm not sure what the impact of this would be on my application status?

Hello zainy,

If you also want a TRV, apply for it while you are in Canada. It will be much simpler. I think you can do this online, and then send your passport - and it's much faster as it can be done within a month or less.

However, I don't believe it will be rejected if you apply for it in Kenya. I had to renew my TRV last year, while I had a valid visitor record, and I got it within 7 weeks. The main thing you have to prove in Kenya for the visa, is that you are well travelled, and you have some ties to Kenya.
Basically proof that you will leave Canada. I included a return flight to Nairobi as proof.

Oh wow! Can I apply for a TRV through the Kenyan Embassy in Canada since I am currently living in Canada?

The only problem is that I have not lived in Kenya for the past 8 or so years as I was in the U.S for school/work so it would be hard to show any ties there apart from the fact that my parents still live there. I have only visited them for the past years. Have you left and entered Canada with a TRV while your paperwork was being processed and if so, how was your experience with the immigration officers at the airport?

Maybe I wasn't clear.

I applied for my TRV through the Canadian Embassy in Kenya while I was in Kenya, but I recommend that you apply for your TRV, from Inside Canada online. Once it is approved online, they will request your passport...i believe you have to send it to a visa office in the US to get the actual visa in your passport - There will be instructions on which visa office to send it to.

I am leaving the country soon, and have yet to have experience travelling while PR is in process. As long as you are in status, and travel with some documents that prove that you are applying for PR- if asked, you should be ok. Every immigration officer is different, but I take comfort in the fact that I will be travelling with my husband.

my wife just got a call from the canadian embassy in nairobi. she is as interview scheduled for april 15th. not sure if interivew is a good or a bad thing. anyone know what they ask?

interviews are not a bad thing. they just call to verify some info on how you met you just random questions abt you both. she will be fine. be completely honest and she should be good. after interview its usually not mich longer. good luck

I did not send a lot of documents for my spouse's when I sent the application. What else does the Nairobi office ask from the person being sponsored( my wife in this case)? Will they ask her to send her birth certificates, Kenya Identification card, Resumes and all that? or these documents are not needed?

What documents of person being sponsored ( spouse ) does the sponsor submit to CIC apart from marriage certificate, medical, proof or relationship and the forms? Please let me know guys so that I can get them ready or even send them now so that they can have them on my file and have them ready once they start looking at our file.

I just don't want them to ask her for documents because I feel like that will cause some delays ( even a day or two make a difference!!!!)

you mentioned that you did not send alot of documents when u sent your application. it makes me womder why? there is a checklist you are given to make aire that ALL THE REQUIRED documents are there and on every page it says to make sure you send in a complete application or it may be returned back to you and or rejected. you just have to wait now and see what they need. after you send in your application there is nothing you can do until you hear back from them with instructions. i do believe that ur wifes birth certificate and your marriage lisence is a requirement. keep us posted on your progress and good luck

Thanks for the response. By " a lot" i meant a lot!! I did send all the documents listed in the checklist, that I have no doubt. Also included proof of relation, marriage certificate and wedding pictures. All that is is in there. I was just wondering if they will be asking for the Kenyan Identification card, birth certificate and all that. All these were not mentioned in the checklist. Am thinking maybe once the file gets transferred to Nairobi then they will be asking her since they are the ones assessing the person being sponsored. If they will then i will ust get ready for it and have it at their door an hour after they have requested for it!!
