@ Ashsher You're right about the being patient and praying. That's what i'm doing.

I was just sharing with meena what I went through to get sponsorship approval. Knowing that someone went through the same thing helps a lot. @ Meena, my application is in Nairobi, it was sent there in December. The Sponsorship applications have been bit slow, but they are now looking at November, so you should have some good news soon! I wish you all the best with your application!

meena and awfm. hi guys. listen. i also put my application in 2014 july and we have already got approved and visa stamps. guys i have been thru the same ordeal as you guys. there is no need to call. listen look at the time frame you were given for first process of the sponsor then count your days. meena for you once ur husbands part is approved your application will be transfered to the respective processing visa office for further processing. your husband will get an email to advice him or their decision like he will be told he has been approved as a sponsor and that ur applic will be sent to what office then you wait again. even when we applied it said 21 months for my husbands side of processing and we were done and dusted in 5 months and 2 weeks. start to end. let them do their thing. if your application has been well prepared and all documents are in they will breeze thru them. dont keep calling. if ur feeling anxious come and talk to people here that are in the same boat. you will see you are not alone. thats what got us thru too. we just got ours thats why im saying. just stay positive and keep praying. just my advice.

Thanks Ashsher
I just checked the processing times and it says updated on the 11th that they were on the 25th of Nov should I be worried that I haven't heard anything since this is the date I applied? Im sure they recieved it as when i sent it i got someone to sign for it and have an email with the signature so that I'm not worried about. So I'm the sponsor so shall I receive the first email or will he? I'm glad to hear it was so speedy for you since I to have to use the Nairobi office. I have already sent in my medical and police check so I hope they will breeze right threw mine as well fingers crossed. ;D

meena theres no need to worry. the processing of the sponsor will take some time. mine took 3 months and then after thh sent the file to nairobi bam bam bam... so you just sit back STOP WORRYING. someone also told me the these same words. " if you don hear from them its a good thing". look at this point theres nothing anyone can do. the application is with them now. when they get to your file they will go through and since you are the sponsor they will send you the first email saying you have been approved as a sponsor etc. then the file gets transfered to nai and they do the rest there. at this point if they require any more info they will write/email you and ask for what they want even at this point if you dont hear from them dont worry. theyre working on it. just tell ur husband to check ecas status online for updates. sometimes if all is in order they send you a letter requesting for passport. and then the wait again. so dont stress out for nothing. chin up and smile... your hubby will be with u soon. :)

Bindiya hello, there is not set time for the waiting period as every application is processed differently. They will transfer your file to the appropriate visa office and will continue processing. Once they are done they will contact you. If they do not require further info from you, they will write to you and ask for your passport to finalize the visa. So just sit patiently and wait.

Hi zainy

if you are already with your husband then send the WHOLE application complete with a note stating that you are waiting for your fingerprints clearance to arrive. Usually that lasts a year of validity so you shouod be ok because they will request for it sooner or later. Make sure the rest of the application is complete. Sometimes they will accept it or if not then you they will send your application back. In that case you wait till you have everything. If the case officer sees that the rest of the application is flawless he/she may let it go. Its a chance but its your decision. If it were me i would write a polite note saying the fingerprints were taking longer than you expected so you sent the application to begin processing and as soon as you have them you will send them in. Good luck. Just remember the rest of the application must be flawless. ;D
Hi Ashsher,

I had posted this question on another forum as well and some people recommended that I just wait for my fingerprints and THEN send out my paperwork. The reason for that is because Mississauga is currently taking ~85 days to approve the sponsor and the fingerprints are valid for 3 months so if I send in my application and then my fingerprints, there is a good chance that I will be cutting it too close. I'm open to suggestions though; anything to get my paperwork moving :-[

you are allowed to stay with your husband in canda even after your visa expires. You will be "out of status" but still legally allowed to reside with your husband as long as you dont work during that time period until your application is approved. If you are already in canada you can wait here. Thought id let you know. Keep us posted
In regards to residing with my husband in Canada, I just keep extending my visitor status when it expires. I just filed my second extension so waiting to hear back from them.

@ zainy..... Jambo. Look if your read through the whole application it says "send in a complete package". That includes your fingerprints. If it were me, I would send it the whole complete package as per their request. I wouldn't want to test my fate. Your fortunate that you are already with your husband so it shouldn't matter how long they take. As far as extending your visitor visa, please seek some legal advice regarding your status because I think that you can still stay in Canada with your husband even after your visitor visa expires you may not need to renew all the time. I think you can still stay here while your papers are being processed though you may have some restrictions. Please consult an immigration lawyer or call CIC office and ask them directly to be absolutely sure. But I don't see any problems. You should send in a "complete" application in my opinion. good luck my friend..... :)

Jambo Jambo! You're right, I think I will just wait for my fingerprints to arrive and then send the complete application package. It's just that not being able to travel and see my family for almost another year gets to me sometimes, but I am fortunate to at least be with my husband in Canada. This forum has definitely kept me going. Thanks for all the feedback!

Jambo friends and members!

If you are concerned about the processing times for your respective visa office or empathize with people that have to endure such a long period of time without being with their loved one and you would like to show your support or find ways to contribute, you can:

1) Sign the petition http://bit.ly/spouse_sponsorship

2) Email family, friends and colleagues informing them of your situation and requesting support to sign the petition

3) Add to your signature in your profile:
Reduce spouse sponsorhip processing time: http://bit.ly/spouse_sponsorship

This is an election year and I believe there is strength in numbers.
