Hi Maylius.. i completely understand that its sometimes hard to wait esp not knowing but from my readings and experiences if you dont hear from them its usually a good sign. That just meams they are working on it. Sometimes the files get pushed back waiting for a decision or info but I still feel if there was anything they need they will write and ask for it. They will give you enough time and oppotunity to hand in any required additional info. If u dnt hear anything sit back and wait. Dont plan too much during this time because each file is processed differently. So please stay positive and patient. We all went through the same thing and from experience i say patience and reaching out on this forum is the only sane way to get through it.

Ashsher,
Wow!
This is probably the most encouraging message I have received as far as my application for PR is concerned. Thanx. This will take me through upto all the way when I get a good decision being made on my application. ;) ;D

Hello friends,
Hope you are fine.

I have a question. When does the visa office request for the passport? (After the decision has been made or before it is made)
Thank you.

I was just looking at processing times for Nairobi visa office. Did processing times increase from 21 to 27?

Awmf2014, yeah it did, but that shouldn't worry you. If you submit a complete application with all the necessary support documents you stand a chance of finalizing your application within one year (12 months) though from the cases I have knowing between 2013 to date majority get there PR to be processed in just 6 months.

Hello everyone!!!

I am moving to Canada on Family Class in April. Will i have to go through the visitors section at the immigration or the residence section?

Will really appreciate your advice for those who have already traveled to Canada with FC Visa.

I always used to come here for guidance and guiding people myself!! Very very useful forum. The year passed VERY SLOW, trust me, i mean VEERRYY SLOW. But once you get your passport request without an interview, know that they have approved your application!

Good luck to all those new applicants!!! :)

Thanks for sharing Ali. Much appreciated!!

It does go very slow indeed! I submitted my application last month. Log way to go. come across this forum and am getting to learn some stuff here. I always check in to get new information whenever it pops up.

Ali, i did not send a lot of documents for my spouse's when i sent the application. What else does the Nairobi office ask from the person being sponsored( my wife in this case)? Will they ask her to send her birth certificates, Kenya Identification card or these documents are not needed?
What are documents( person being sponsored) did the sponsor submit to CIC apart from marriage certificate, medical, proof or relationship?

I just don't want them to ask her for documents because I feel like that will cause some delays ( even a day or two make a difference!!!!)

Anyone with information, please share!!
Ali, thanks again. Hope your question gets answered soon.

All the best in your new life!! where will you be landing? Toronto?

hi there, would be glad to share my experience. i recently ordered my case processing files from cic. It was free for me since am now a PR. It gave me a good insight into what goes on. My case was processed in just under 6 months, but we applied use a lawyer so we prepared very well. I was the one being sponsored. We included photocopies f my national ID, passport, my birth certificate, education certificates that i had listed down, about 6 letters from close family and friends saying they knew us,and our relationship was real. From my notes i can tell that about 4 diffrent officers worked on my case. Processing times can vary based on whether the officer wants to clarify information like say your education etc. However you seem to have prepared well so just sit back and be patient. Its very stressful going through, but eventually you will get there. In my case they actually did request for an extra document because my schedule A form dates were wrong, and i emailed it to them asap. Also i had never paid rprf upfront so that delayed me for about a month. Other than that, nairobi seems to have a very fair actually processing time..6-12 months..all the best

Hi Alwy,

Has your file transferred from Ontario already? Birth Certificate and citizenship ID is not needed. I did not submit either of them (i was being sponsored). I submitted all documents that supports our relationship starting from FB chats, skype chats, emails, msn chats, pictures of us when we met & whenever we used to meet. all boarding passes when i used to travel to canada and when she used to travel here, e-ticket copies, receipts of gift we used to purchase for eachother.... anything we felt was supporting to our relationship, we attached it in the application... pictures of the time i proposed her, pictures of us getting married... etc... oh yea, viber calls screen shots... ill tel you something i know about applying visas (being a travel agent)... ''if in doubt, declare it''... just submit anything u feel will support your application. basically you re being interviewed through paper... so make sure you are straight to the point and prove all your points.

after submitting, we never heard anything from the visa office for a very long time... u just need to forget that you have submitted your application (which i know is very difficult).. and then suddenly they will contact your wife (since she is being sponsored)... BTW... do ask your wife to check her P.O.Box frequently as they will send updates on POBox and not email....

I am moving to Vancouver!!

Wishing you good luck!! Being in Tanzania, my application took more than a year, hopefully yours will be done as soon as possible.. hang in there....

Let me know if you need any help, yea??

Thanks.

on your application form if your supply them with an email address then they will correspond through email. Its always a good idea to give them your email to prevent delays

Hey Chipolopolo, Ali and everyone!!

Thank you for sharing. Really appreciate you guys doing this. My file has not been transferred yet, hope they will soon though. Fingers XXXXX. Only thing I was worried about was the Identification card and her birth certificate. Looks like It's not certain one must give that because no one has been requested to bring one at some point ( at least in this forum ) If they do then it shouldn't be a problem. Will just mail it to them ASAP.
Again thank you so much guys.
Cheers
