Hello,

I need serious help. i haven't received an ITA yet. my PGWP expired in May and I applied to extend it knowing fully well it will be rejected, but just to keep me working under implied status, hoping to het ITA before a decision is made for the extension i applied for However, the 90 days grace period under my implied status has ended and I have stopped working.
A visitor's visa I heard is not guaranteed and I plan on going back to school but wanted to do that when I get my PR.

My question now is; what are my options to stay here while waiting for ITA?

unable to apply for study permit yet as I'm till waiting to get my offer letter from the school I applied to.

What other options do I have to keep me here, knowing full well now that I cannot work, so no income. I'm really confused on what to do, any ideas, advice or options? I can't afford to go back to my country for now after 8 years here in Canada

Thank you.

Implied status and the 90 day restoration period are two different things. You're mixing concepts.

Since you've already applied to extend your work permit, you're going to have to wait for the results of that application before you do anything else. You know it's going to be a refusal (since you don't qualify for an extension). Once that refusal is received you'll need to apply to restore your status in Canada and also change your status to visitor (unless you happen to secure a job offer from an employer along with an approved LMIA - in which case you can apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer).

Thank you Scylla for your response.

I'm sorry I mixed the 90 days and implied status together, I was going to make mention of both of them separately.

1. Okay, So do I have to wait for a decision on the WP extension before I apply to change my status or start working on changing my status before the decision is made?

2. if I apply for visitor's visa, do you have an idea if it is guaranteed or not?

3. Will I be able to apply for study permit if my admission letter comes while I'm on a visitor's status (That's when I restore my status as a visitor already before my admission letter comes)

4. Can I get a job offer without a work permit? (I always get asked if I have a work permit)

1. Yes - you need to wait for a decision before you can apply for anything else.
2. No - not guaranteed.
3. Yes - but make sure your studies make sense in light of your past education and experience. If you take any course just to remain in Canada - this makes it much more likely you'll be refused. Also note that the PGWP is a once-in-a-lifetime permit only. You won't qualify for another one.
4. It's possible but difficult.

Hi, scylla..may I know what are some reasons usually see for refusing visitor visa? (I got refused for my pgwp because no Lima, and now wanna restore it as visitor)
If so, how long does it take for the processing? And even I can stay here legally to wait for that right?
Thanks in advanced.
