If she is collecting social assistance she is ineligible to sponsor.

PMM

She has to stop collecting social assistance.

Why not consider a reverse sponsorship? Do you have work where you live? Then sponsor her to come live in your country.

But if you managed to get a residence visa and came to Canada, and drew social assistance, she would be liable for your debt by cirtue of the sponsorship agreement you both must sign.

You can see the justice of this, I hope (as do all Canadian taxpayers).

after that she can sponsor me if she won't work?

if she stops and continues her studies, quite possible she will be able to

I was told by an immigration that as long as YOU are an adult/spouse she does not have to meet the financial requirments to sponsor you ...only if she is sponsoring a minor! Double check this but that is what a lawyer told me because my canadian wife is not working and is on maternal leave.

The financial requirements the lawyer told you about is the Low Income Cut Off. ALL SPONSORS still need to meet the other eligibility requirements which means they can NOT be receiving welfare AND they can NOT have an undischarged bankruptcy.
