Hi All,

I am looking for someone who has gone through the process of sponsoring their spouse from Nicaragua. Here is my story. I married my husband in July of 09. We tried to get a visitors Visa but was denied as they felt he would not return to Canada. I than returned to Canada alone and started the process of PR. My initial paperwork was sent in Oct 09 but was sent back in Nov 09 as we were missing his daughters medical. I than sent it all back in Jan 2010. In Feb I got a letter stating that the paperwork was now in Guatemala. In April I was asked to pay the Right of Permant resident fee within 30 days to conclude the process.
Can anyone tell me about there application process and how fast or slow it went after the last fee was payed

Cheers !

Hi there!

I'm married with a Nica too, we are together since 3 years, married since 2 and I've been living in Nica for the last 3 years. I'm now in Quebec waiting for the baby to come (mid-october).

We sent the papers to Mississaugua in Dec. 2009 and I got accepted everywhere. The papers are in Guatemala since January 2010. We received a letter in febuary saying they needed some more prooves of our relationship + passport + original documents + other papers. They were suppose to meet up at the end of may to check what we send them.

Mid-july, I went to see the deputee and she called and told me they haven't had checked up the papers still, and they were suppose to do it by the end of july.

I haven't had any news since then.

I spoke with a Quebec girl, she's married with a guy from El Salvador and the papers were received in dec. 2010 in Guatemala and she had a positive answer by mid-june and I think that her husband is now in Canada, since a few weeks.

So I have no idea of how these guys are checking the papers!!!!!!!!!

Let's see what happen...!

My husband is a Nica as well. We live in the US. We are waiting for some things to be certified translation and then we are going to file which should be this month. We got married 2/08. I am a dual citizen (US/Canadian). We are hoping that it will not be a long wait.
