My Research ECA Reports

Hi All,

Due to confusion myself and also a lot of questions in general. I have put together this thread with all the stuff I have come across on how to read ECA reports.

I have heard a lot of people say two or more needs to be post graduate etc, well this is my research:

WES - This is who did my report

When you get your ECA from WES, you will have a Canadian Equivalency Summary at the top. This will show your Highest Qualification in that subject area I believe, based on the subjects you done and the course. So for example:

Example 1
**This is an example**
- You may have done a Bachelors Degree and then a masters in your home country
- Your ECA could show a summary of Bachelor Degree (4 years) and that would be your highest

Example 2 - My case
- I sent WES 3 qualifications, all 3 around the IT subject, but slightly different in course and modules
- My overall summary was Two Diplomas (Two Years) & Bachelor Degree (4 Years)

So the top of the summary, will always show you the highest qualification you can claim for.

CIC - Conversion Table

There has also been a lot of confusion around this conversion table and how to read it for two or more, here is a break down below:

Firstly it states that one your ECA assessment, you should have an overall summary with one of them being 3 years or more:

ECA assessment results:

A three-year or more certificate, diploma, or degree

It then goes onto say what additional education you need (Please note, nowhere does it state post graduate. I have numbered these to make it easier to read):

PLUS any of the results in the sections below (1) (not including secondary/high school), or:(2)

(1)
Bachelors Degree or other programs 3 years or more
Two Year Degree, Diploma or certificate
One Year Degree, diploma or certificate

(2)

Post-Bachelor's Certificate
Post-undergraduate certificate
Post-Bachelor's Diploma
Post-undergraduate diploma
Graduate Certificate
Graduate Certificate with a focus in [area of concentration]
Postgraduate certificate
Postgraduate Diploma
Graduate Diploma with a focus in [area of concentration]
Graduate diploma
two-year Postgraduate Diploma, specializing in [name of discipline]
two-year Bachelor’s after degree with a focus in [area of concentration]
one-year Postgraduate Certificate in [name of discipline]
one-year of graduate study with a focus in [area of concentration]
Dual Bachelor’s degree (four years)

So as long as your assessment shows a 3 year degree/program and any below section or post graduate work, you can claim two or more.

Consultants/Lawyer Review

I have spoken to a few immigration lawyers about my ECA personally and one piece of feedback I got from one of them was that I could select two or more, as long as the summary shows it.

Another good video which states this is:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekpDWr0sJpI

the part which mentions the summary is after 2 minutes.

Hope this helps people and is what i have found from my personal experience and research etc. Please feel free to let me know your experiences and if you disagree etc.

thanks!

Thanks you for this summary.

Could yo pease confirm if I can claim my OCJP certification(related to IT) and Six sigma green belt certification in ECA. or can I count it as two or more degree/diploma?

If answer to above queston is NO. Can you advise if There are any short diploma or Certificate course that can be completed and claimed as two or more.

Thanks you

Hi,

I am not sure what:

OCJP certification(related to IT) and Six sigma green belt certification in ECA

is, have you had this assessed or sent for assessment?

on your question on if there is any short course, to be honest this is something i cannot answer, as WES or other organisations will assess your academic qualification based on its modules and country of origin. If it helps normally they only do academic qualifications i believe

ECA App is raised. I have submitted my documents for attestations in mumbai university.

I want to increase my points to 450 +. Hence loking for means to show two or more degree/certificate. As that would take me close to 470 points.

once you have it back, post the overall summary and compare to the CIC website, should give you an indication

I have a Six Sigma certification and it will not get you extra points. I do not think WES or Toronto's CES will even look at it for an evaluation.

Just some further information all.

From many post on the forum you see agent notes, such as below:

***AGENT REVIEW EDUCATION***EDUCATION DOCUMENTS ECA report verified on issuing agency website; foreign credential confirmed on ECA site. ECA Canadian Equivalency Summary reported by issuing agency as DIPLOMA AND BACHELOR'S DEGREE. Credential is consistent with level of education claimed by PA under EE Eligibility.

as you can see, it shows they check the summary.
