The issue is that the OP does not have the passport as he/she has sent it away as part of the passport renewal. The OP will get the old passport back once he/she gets new passport.thecoolguysam said:Before my test, they just verified my IDs and test paper to make me sit in the test.
During the interview the officer checked my passports held in past 4 years.
Passports held in past 4 years are required during the interview so that the officer can verify your entries/exits by checking the stamps.
Is the passport required during the test?screech339 said:The issue is that the OP does not have the passport as he/she has sent it away as part of the passport renewal. The OP will get the old passport back once he/she gets new passport.
So worst comes to worst, if OP has a test to write and has no passport yet, OP can request CiC to reschedule the test.
I have been reading a lot of posts whereby the CIC agent read over the passports/travel records to verify your travel records while you do your written test.thecoolguysam said:Is the passport required during the test?
I think it is only required during the interview. Correct me if I am wrong.
Okay, in our case who gave test at vancouver office, showed our IDs and test invite letter and gave the test and then after the test, we were called one by one for the interview (i think there were 8-10 officers who were conducting the interview) and during the interview the officer checked all IDs and passports etc.screech339 said:I have been reading a lot of posts whereby the CIC agent read over the passports/travel records to verify your travel records while you do your written test.
Plus also to see if you have recently came back from your country just for the test and then leave again awaiting oath to arrive in the mail.
CIC agent can issue an RQ if they see that you have recently came back in time for test.
So in essence you needed to have your passport with you at your test. Either they look at your passports during the test or after the test. Regardless of how the process is done, your passport is still needed at the test.thecoolguysam said:Okay, in our case who gave test at vancouver office, showed our IDs and test invite letter and gave the test and then after the test, we were called one by one for the interview (i think there were 8-10 officers who were conducting the interview) and during the interview the officer checked all IDs and passports etc.
I think the process might be different for other offices in different provinces.
I agree.screech339 said:So in essence you needed to have your passport with you at your test. Either they look at your passports during the test or after the test. Regardless of how the process is done, your passport is still needed at the test.
For the OP's case, he/she has no choice but to wait until passport has come back. If OP gets test schedule and still no passport, OP has no choice but to ask CIC to reschedule the test appointment. CIC will understand that the OP has to renew passport and does not have it in time for test. CIC will reschedule it. The OP may have to explain that he/she may have to wait until 2 months to get it. CIC may get annoyed if you have to reschedule one more time if scheduled too soon. The OP has to let them know that the wait can be up to 2 months. At least CIC will know and make a new appointment at least 2 months in advanced.thecoolguysam said:I agree.
I don't think they accept any photocopies during Interview. The whole point in checking passport during interview is to see the originals, if they need photocopies they could have just asked with the application package.paw339 said:Is it acceptable to take a photocopy of every page of your passport and then taken the photocopies to the test if you are renewing your passport? You could then give CIC the original passport when it arrives back.
