Hi,

I have long running application with canada for immigration (6 years now). 6 months ago i got a letter from Ontario to invite in their FSW Pilot Project. I send all of my documents. After 6 months i got letter that my application is rejected because of following.

- My IELTS score is 6.5 but 2 years old. they need 1 year old scores. I send an email that i can re-take the exam but they gave deadline for submission that i could not re-take and re-submit my scores. So i did not take the exam

- My qualification is not recognized as 3 yeas post secondary eduction. I have 2 years post secondary degree that is recognized but my other qualification (1 years diploma in computer sciences and 1 year Executive MS computer Sciences degree is not recognized)

Now this is the set-back. IELTS is no problme for me i can make 6.5 band again. But what about 3 year post secondary education. My main application with Canada is not yet returned as they are saying they will return it but even if they evaluate it i may have problmes with my degree.

I have 13+ years of continuous work experience as Software Engineer and now for last 7 years working in leading roles as Software Project Manager. Does this does not count. I learn that Software Engineers are out of demanded skills but project manager is still in.

What are my options now. Should i write Ontario to give me another change for IELTS. what about 3 years degree, how to cover it. is there any skills inequivalent criteria for academic qualifications

Best Regards

Hello
You can take discrepancy courses to complete your credit hrs. I'm also a software engineer. Mine is a 3 yr course but for MS i need 4 yr bachelors so i need to enrol to complete my 1yr courses. You can also go for PMP certification but it will only give u international recognition as project manager.it won,t cover your degree program I guess. But with a recognised certificate u may find a job offer in Canada. A consultant told me they don't consider executive degree courses. Only full time study is considered.

Can you guide me if software engineers are really out of demand? This is really worrying.

As far i know software, immigration changes rules out software engineers as most demanded occupations for Canada. But i think Software Project Managers category is still in the list but not sure. There looks no change in the near future that software engineer will be needed again for canada.

Anyways this is worrying that my degree does not count as official qualification and will not give me any credit hours. Is there any way that my 13 years in industry experience give me some relief ?

Are you a provincial nominee or FSW? You can explore what are the requirements for CEC... if you get Canadian work experience, you may be eligible for applying for PR...but you need to research this on their official website as I am not sure.

I did not apply for provincial nominee, i got a letter from Ontario inviting to send my application for their FSW program. not eligible for PR because no Canadian experience.
