Hi all, I want to send my application in within the week as I think and hope its all finished. I was wondering how have people packaged their applications up before sending? Mine is in a binder and I attempted to put it in order of the checklist with about 60 photos at the end. I thought I had seen a topic on here before with people breaking down and posting pictures of their applications. If anyone knows what I'm talking about could you please post a link? I want to see how organised people do things. ;)

My girlfriend, (a Canadian Citizen) was living with me in Ireland up until last month when her Irish working holiday visa ran out. I'm planning on moving over to her in Toronto and entering on a visitor visa so we can be together. Right now she's staying with her sister but we have an apartment lined up for the 1st of Nov. She's got full time work and I'm bringing most of my savings so hopefully this will prove that we can support each other. I'm going in Nov/Dec, can I enter and stay for at least 6 months or is it strictly 3 months? Or if I enter for the 3 months visitor can I apply to extended it from within Canada, specifying that we are waiting on the visa application?

Any advice or last minute tips would be appreciated. I'm pretty tired as I write this so please excuse me if its not clear enough.

Thanks.

You are not moving to Canada. You are coming as a visitor.

6 months is the standard entry given. If you are given anything less, you can apply to CIC to extend your visitor status.

Thanks Canuck. I'll be going over with a return ticket as well so maybe travelling mid Nov ret to Ireland early Mar so about 4months. But if I want to go back to Canada on a visitor visa in 2016 will I just have the remainder of the 6 month stay started in Nov or is it a new start of 6months?

When you return to Canada, it will be under a new stay so most likely you would get a fresh 6 months.

Just to confirm, while in Ireland the both of you actually cohabited for 12 continuous months (and not a day less) before she moved back to Canada, correct?

When you come here, if you've already submitted your outland PR app then it's a good idea to print out proof of this (like fee receipt, sponsor approval, etc) to show CBSA. They are usually much easier on visitors entering with PRs apps in progress and just want to wait out the process in Canada with their sponsor. Through you still should have the return ticket and stress you will not overstay.

Okay thanks for the advice Rob. Ya we lived together in Canada for 9months while I was there on a 2 year working holiday visa. Then we moved to Ireland lived together here for 2 straight years.
