Hi,
I just receive a email from CIC, they said my cec application has been transferred to New York.
Can someone tell me is this a good thing or bad? because I heared that it will be very slow if New york deal your case.

This is unusual... when did you apply? Was your file in process at a different visa office before?

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2013/ob496.asp

I don't think it is a usual case... can u share your time line please?

Not common, but the same could be said about select files that were sent to CPP-O in 2011 and 2012 when the Buffalo office was still open. They have internal processes which we can't know. It could be re-distribution due to workload, so I wouldn't worry about it.

What was your country of residence when you send your application and what is your current country of residence?

Did you select CPP-Ottawa as your visa office in the application form?

It doesn't matter, what s/he selected. It was probably sent to NY as CPP-Ott feels an interview is required.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada said it is prioritizing “urgent humanitarian visa applications” as the department monitors the labour situation. Alexis Pavlich, press secretary for Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander, wrote in an email that all visa offices keep essential staff to deal with such “essential” services.

“CIC is providing training on an urgent basis so that more staff can process applications, and is requesting that staff work overtime where possible,” she wrote, adding that the department is also shifting work to Canada and other offices

We might see some applications moved to other offices for processing if the STRIKE status continues.

Yes, but it very likely that members of PSAC (The CIC union) will refuse to do the work of the PAFSO members.

What does “urgent humanitarian visa applications” refer to ? Does it include PR (CEC) applications that are pending for submission of passport and/or visa issuance ?

Definitely not CEC application, i guess its more to do with asylum & refugee category.

What's your timeline like?
Trying to figure out which year/mth files they're sending over.

I applied in Ottawa.
And I time line is I applied in feb 15, 2013. I got FN in April 3. I received this notice one month ago.
I'm still in Canada now.
What should I do? I'm so worried.

Hi.. Does your ECAS say "Application Received" or "In Process"?

Nothing you can do but try to go about your daily life. There is nothing in the email that should warrant worrying.
