Hi there,
we have applied on April 2nd week, Documents are reached at Ottawa, (checked on Canada post) but no Acknowledgement (AOR) yet.

I have a question that is, after landing as a PR I have changed my name, and while applied I have added the legal name change certificate. if I have to check the online status what is the last name I have to give? Should it match the pr card name or new name?

thanks
Sam

Best thing to do is try both... but it usually takes a few weeks for them to acknowledge your application which is done by either email or regular mail. With the amount of applications that came in in October, they are really backlogged... so I'd say, just be patient. You can call CIC in another week or so if you're still feeling anxious.

In my case, it was the new name. We applied in September and on the application form it asked what name you are currently using and that is the name they are going by. Your form asked did you change your name and would you like CIC to use it. If you chose yest, they will go by new name, if you picked no, then try your name before change.

In my case, even that all my documents are still in my maiden name, the invitations for test and citizenship are in my married name. They don't even question it. I just had to show my marriage certificate at the interview.
