Hi All,

I made the refugee claim, below is the timeline

1. AOC Received: 9 June 2024
2. Medical Request: 9 June 2024
3. Medical Passed: 26 June 2024
4. First Hearing, Docs Seizure and Issued Work Permit: 16 July 2024

I believe I only left with Final Hearing right? Any approximate date for the final hearing? My case was submitted when I was in Alberta. Now, I moved to BC and updated my address accordingly.

You have the final hearing step and if you are accepted then you apply for PR which has separate waiting times. The wait time for the final hearing is generally anywhere from 1-2 years although there are cases where people have their hearing sooner. Good luck.

You had an interview not a hearing. Asylum claims can take 6 months to 2+ years. It is a very long process and the system only has capacity to process ~50k applications while there was around ~250k asylum applications.

Hello, So i had my hearing on monday october 07 2024. It lasted for about 1.5hr with a 10mins break tho there were some little discrepancies like spelling on a document which i said was a typo and also on my affidavit i did not embellish my claim in anyway. at the end member asked my lawyer if he had anything to add which he did and then member said he will send a decision he said he’s decisions are usually fast and take couple of days. But its been a week and no update still. I reached out to my counsel and he said no news yet. I checked my irrc portal and its strange the referral decision doesn’t list any of the statuses it just says “Not Available” i called immigration and after asking ke series of security questions the lady told me no decision was made and they are still on paperwork i am so anxious and confused can someone please advise? I need help please thanks.

Take it easy. The decision may take at least 2-3 weeks to reach by mail, and it could take 4-5 months, yes MONTHS!! There could be various different reasons for a decision to take such a long time.

It's been only 9 days since the hearing so no need to panic.

Don't even think about it, just try to continue your regular life. It will eventually be mailed to you.

It is normal to see as "Not Available" because the decision is being prepared. It will take some time.

From what I learnt here, you will be notified first by email then you will receive the actual Notice of Decision by mail.

Just be patient.

Good luck!

The office would not know when it was exactly mailed out just likely completed. The admin staff don’t go out to the mailbox or post office. Assume perhaps a few days to go through internal then gets sent out to Canadapost. Then add the long weekend factor. You should receive it by end of this week if not early next week.

Canuck you better find out another area to practice because I don’t think you are successful in your current position therefore you need to apply for proper course to get certified then you can earn much more than top of 5 lawyers in Kingston county I would suggest to you go to law school for two months after that you can order pizza at Boston pizza they have a good quality and delicious however some supermarket in our town is so much expensive then Walmart last time I pay for 500 insurance company then gasoline 60$ we got dozen of beer in lcbo looks like these days taxpayers get pissed of they said we pay too much tax for government and our mortgage is less than 2000 my mortgage is almost off and I don’t smoke cocaine I only smoke meth so the economy in United States is getting better specially in Elk Grove so many people are waiting on housing subsidies we struggle for food banks our government can pay for insurance my care last month I had a ticket for parking lot now I’m going to vacation for 3 weeks as my work schedule changed and hallowen is coming soon we gonna make a party over there to be honest we will play soccer If they have lived in the US for a long period of time they won’t qualify for health coverage right away. They would need to wait for 2-3 months in order to qualify so transfer may be quite challenging. Do they have US residency status?
As already stated impossible to stay but there is a very good chance you may have difficulty entering. Did you also work illegally while in Canada or can you prove that you were living off savings? That also could lead to problems. Did you use your business visa for it’s intended purpose? You will need to have very good proof that you intend to return home this time if you are able to enter. If able to enter you may be limited to a short visit. What are your reasons for entering Canada and how long do you want to remain in Canada.
Would also specify if you are trying to visit Canada or planning on returning to live in Canada permanently and provide proof of either scenario. That may impact the application. Agree With the others that it is impossible to say what will happen but time accompanying a spouse was intended to be after both parties have spent time living in Canada and then moved abroad and primarily moved abroad due to the Canadian citizen. Also fairly unusual for married couples to spend 5 years not living together. If there is an H&C reason you didn’t live in Canada, like having to care for a sick parent fo Would discourage leaving the US. No any guarantee you‘ll be able to return to the US. You will also struggle to get a TRV given your lack of permanent status in the US and not having following immigration laws. You can certainly try but would suggest waiting until you have a green card for all applications and travel.
You could also find a job if you have a WP. There is a huge labour shortage. You could walk into a Amazon depot or other warehouse and likely be hired that day as an example. It is easier to find a job that applying for welfare and you get paid much more if you work. You may also receive money faster if you start working now. Welfare payments for single working age able bodied men is very low to encourage people to wor
