We have a strange situation here: My wife is flying from Canada to Manila on May 27th and from Manila to Canada on June 27th. Just today she noticed that her Permanent Resident Card is missing. She is unable to reschedule the trip, and must fly on May 27th. She is going to apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document in order to return on June 27th.
We looked at the application process, and the instructions seem firm that the application be submitted from OUTSIDE CANADA (it appears in bold in a couple of places). However, we would like to submit the application TODAY, as it is going to be a tight squeeze for her to get the Permanent Resident Travel Document stamped into her passport prior to June 27th.
What do you all think? Does anyone have any experience with this? Would it constitute some great crime for her to submit the application a couple of days before leaving Canada? ...or would she be playing with fire?
