Just thought I would give an update that might be useful for some other people.

The application went from Assessment pending to completed in 1 day. She still had 4 weeks left on her work permit. She received her PNP letter and support letter via email. So we went to flagpole. That was not a good experience...

The US border agenst were very friendly. The Canadian one at the border was very rude, arrogant and on the border of aggressive... As stated by other people, one of his colleagues said that issuing work permits are not their job, and they do it as a courtesy. I tried to explain that there was no time to file it online or by mail (that would take 6-9 weeks), but then we should just have send it sooner! He also claimed she could have gone on implied status and we had all the time we needed. So I replied that this was not possible on an IEC permit. His reply was then "Do YOU work here ??"

Luckily the actual immigration officer was friendly, although he issued a closed work permit for only 1 year though.

So yeah, IEC people planning on flagpoling: beware....

But it worked out ok in the end :)

Thank you for all the advice ! On to the next step...

Hi Digits, as I am waiting for the approval from the MPNP under IEC program as well, I am very glad your girlfriend successfully obtained the new work permit!

I think your girlfriend's employer submitted the offer of employment (LMIA-exemption) to CIC, but could you kindly let me know how long it took to complete this application? Did the employer submit it to CIC right after the nomination?

If your employer fills in the form, there will be a button on the bottom. If you click that, you can email the form to CIC. They will send an auto reply within the hour. I then took the original copy (signed by employer) to the border, together with MPNP nomination, support letter, fee payment and job offer letter.

Note that, even though your employer already pays 230 CAD, we still had to pay 155 CAD extra for the work permit.

Hello, i dont know if this is the right place but i have a question. Me and my wife are in canada on our working holiday visas wich are expiring on january 20th 2017. We applied for Manitoba nomination but we didnt recived it yet. My question is if nomination dosent come until then are we in IMPLIED status and can we continue working or we need to apply as tourists if we wanna stay in canada?
