Ideally, you'll get your Acknowledgement
(AOR) somewhere in
November last week to December second week.
After that, you'll wait for another
6-8 months(June to August) or so, and they'll ask you for additional documents if they need any
Another
2-3 months (September to November) from there, and you'll get your
Medical Request.
At this point in your processing, you are in about 9 months to a year.
Another
1 or 2 months (October to December), and you'll get the passport request for visa, and your
visa will be stamped around 12-15 months from now depending on your visa office, and a few other things.
The deadline for CIC to process your application will be somewhere in
December 2017.
The time to complete an application is 15 months, which is what it says on the CIC website (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/index.asp)
I'm sorry if that seems far away, but i'm being realistic here and not trying to give you false hopes. It will happen, but it will take time.
Some people are lucky enough to get their processing done sooner, but I have seen that most people got theirs completed in around 15 months.
CIC has a lot of workload but that's not the only reason for the delays. They need to delay a little bit so that there is a balance in the number of people coming in to the country. If they let everyone in as soon as they can, that will not be good for the economy, in terms of jobs, housing etc.
All you can do is be patient, and hope for the best.
Hopefully you're one of the lucky ones that get their processing done within 12 months.
