I understand..tabs179 said:It really depends if you want to. The expiry of your visa to Canada will be a year from the time your ECAS status announces Medicals Received. So, for instance, your MR is to arrive this month and it was date received at: 15 March 2014, then your visa will expire on 15 March 2015. Which gives enough time for you to land in Canada.
Just bear in mind, not to extend too much in deciding when to land, because some airports will not allow you to leave the country with only 6 months (like in the Philippines) validity on your passport, some allow upto 3 months. But if you plan to leave as soon as you receive your visa, then there is no need for you renew your passport. And some airports will allow you to leave even if it is valid for less than 6 months because you have a permanent resident visa anyway.
The choice is up to you. If you want to renew, there is no need to inform CIC or the embassy, you will receive a form with PPR which you will have to fill in. Just fill in your new passport details there. It's what I did when they requested for my passport (and I renewed it before submitting it to the embassy).
...hth
I'll take note of that..
Thanks tabs179!
