Hello po need ko lng po ng opinion nyo we will land in September 2016 in Winnipeg(routing thru US We are US visa holder). I bought the ticket via online travel agency told me that i have to land either in vancouver or toronto as these are the Port of entry for first time immigrants. They told me that there is no immigration who will assist us for our documents as first time immigrants. salamat!!

Hi ginoongliyans,

As far as I know, hindi ka mabbgyan ng SG Police Clearance hanggat wala kang letter of request from Canada Embassy, unless you are a SG citizen.

OT: @znarfier
You may be surprised to know it happens here also here:.
Dun sa clinic ng IME namin, and instructions are - "if we don't call you in <amount of time>, everything is OK. Don't call the clinic to follow-up test results, or to check if we have submitted them - we do not accept these calls." Walang notice, walang update. Sila ang tatawag, pag di sila tumawag, OK. Anak ng - anong klaseng assurance yun - paano kung di ko nasagot ang tawag? No news it literally good news ika nga. WTF?

So, after the time given (2 weeks), tinawagan kami - me findings na positive for HIV. So naturalmente - panic - Paano mangyayari yun - wala nakita sa unang IME namin (for a WP) sa Pinas and we know our health history from regular company APEs - negative! Only to find out na ang ginawa pala ng clinic (and most of them here) is the screening test only for antibodies/antigen, and not the confirmatory test. So go, gawin ang confirmatory test. Negative. All clear. Additional cost for the confirmatory test ($$) - di biru din yun (IME is not covered by health insurance in my province - another :(:(:().

Which we found out later, hindi nakaugalian/practice ng western clinics to do the confirmatory test in one sample. Unlike in what is commonly done sa ibang bansa, and sa IME sa Pinas - they do both tests immediately para conclusive ang test for HIV - if positive sa screening, gawin agad ang confirmatory test - then final results.

Just goes to show, it happens not onli in da PH. MHO
(apologies to sensitivities offended in this post - not intent on malice whatsover....)

At bro ragluf, OMG!

I could feel how you felt when you were told na positive ka! Hinayufak! hahahaha... Ano yan, The Dorzura Cortez Story ni ate Vi? (ne-research ko lang to ha... LOL) --- sabi nga ni ate Vi, bakit, Dyos ka ba?!!! :P

Well, anyway, at least false alarm pala... yon nalang ang consuelo... negatib! hehe...

Pre, tagay na pala! hehe

Our primary concern is to be able to enroll the kids this coming schoolyear opening in September.
We'll definitely submit our passports ASAP ...

However, when I checked the Manitoba Education Site, "School of Choice Within-Division/District", they require that student application forms to the potential “receiving” school to be submitted no later than May 15 ... I'm still researching what to do ... It's very unlikely that we receive our VISAs by that short timeline ... This is precisely the reason why we are very anxious to receive our PPR.

... Good luck to all of us ...

Hi go north!

It wouldn't be much of a concern regarding your children being registered at the start of the school year kasi whichever month you arrove here in Winnipeg you could register your children. Let's say you arrive here December, the school you chose will probably accept your children given that they missed 2 months. Schools here are not very lenient about each child to start the school year because there are cases of families as newly immigrants, moving from a new province and other reasons.

Hope this helps!

Hi gatzy,

San po kayo nag pa medical?

Question po.

Just received AOR May 1st, waiting for MR.

My passport is only 11 months valid (expiring on April 2017). Kailangan ko na po ba mag renew or wait for VO's advise? If not yet, when is the right time to renew? OFW po kasi ako and it will be difficult to schedule a renewal. Also, if sa Consular Office or Philippine Embassy ko ipa-renew, it will definitely take 6 to 8 weeks.

Any advise?

Thank you po in advance.

Renew your PP, ASAP. Dito sa Pinas may renewal passport appointment pa na 2 months ang waiting time... Dyan ba wala na? ...this will be a concern... Baka magahol ka sa time ... Check my timeline (and also the other senior's timelines after MR) to gauge your processing ... In my received PPR, it is required na at least 12 months valid ang PPs and only 30 days is given to submit upon PPR. Else, you need to send an explanation letter telling why you can't submit w/in the deadline.

... Good Luck to all of us ...
