MP question

I contacted my MP today so he can help me get some answers from CIC. He told me that theres nothing he can do to expedite my file(obviously) but he said he can definitely check how far in the process they've gone. He asked me to come in and see him on Friday and to bring my ID and any correspondence from CIC. My question is does he have direct minimal access to immigration files such that he can go online and check for me? If not, is he going to contact CIC Pretoria in order to get info?? He mentioned that he doesn't want to intervene right now as im still within a decent timeline but he will just find out what they are currently working on.

Lastly, is it at all worth it to have my MP involved? Ive been emailing Pretoria but they simply ignore my emails, the last correspondence I got from them was on Jan 10 informing me that they hadnt received my husbands medz which a furtherance on them was completed sometime in November. I keep asking them if they now have them or not because obviously im worried that they could have lost them. Anyways, they expired on Feb 20 so I have no clue what the heck is going on.

Hi Perfect,

The MP has no access to immigration files online but they can call an office in Ottawa and get some information on the file but they don't get too much info just basic... If you need in-depth information about the file your best way to go is to order caips notes and you could also order a copy of the medical file.

The MP does help in certain cases but the information that the MP provided to you about them not being really able to help if you are within timelines is correct information. Also, most embassies and high commission do not answer to emails and faxes unless you are past your timelines or if they deem it being an emergency. BTW if they lost something they will call you and let you know, I do not wish this upon nobody but they lost my husband medical and they called and asked for the MD number on the file. I don't understand I am getting the applicant in this case did the meds in november? if so, then the medical will not expire until november. The medical is good for 12 mths.

Thank you for the response Lonely-wife. My hubby did his med on Feb 20, 2010..they sent a furtherance letter October 5, 2010, the furtherance completed Nov 2010, January 2011 Embassy emailed to say they haven't received his medz, asked for the date they were sent and tracking information as well as Docs name etc. Since then...NOTHING!! At least a courtesy email just to say we finally found them or we are still searchin would really help. Now that they have expired im hesitant to ask my hubby to re-do because I dont know if he would have to re-do the furtherance as well...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhr...feel like screaming!!

I totally know how you feel... they called my hubby on feb. 3 to say they are finalizing his file but they misplaced his medical the lady asked for the MD number and told him she would call him back shortly for PP drop off... since then nothing at all I also send emails and faxes but no word.... I called my MP who then called Ottawa and he was advised that the rep in Ottawa did not see a note in my file stating they called my hubby on feb. 3 or that they misplaced the medical so he advised me to order the caips and medical file which I am currently waiting on as we havent heard nothing from Kingston. My husband medical does not expire for a while so that is a good thing but I totally understand how it feels to be left in the dark and trust me I agree they should send emails to calm you down after they put gasoline on the fire lol
