Hi, everyone. My wife had her PR approved over a month ago, but the embassy in Lima, Peru still has not returned her passport with COPR in it because of the lockdowns that just keep on extending (we are looking at a 2 month delay at least just to get the COPR/passport back).

She has a valid TRV, I was wondering if she would be able to join me in Canada here with a dual intent on TRV and then have her “landing” at a later date?

We try to do this earlier to avoid $2000 hotel stay which takes effect on feb 22. She has vacated her apartment and staying with parents and ready to leave. The COVID situation in Peru is dire as well.

The embassy in question is not cooperative with us. I hope that I might be able to get her passport back out of them this week albeit sans COPR if we push harder.

wondering the same. passport is critical to make the travel. Otherwise i do not see any problems going to Canada and move your file there.

I was not clear on the passport part. I am saying that they will return the passport if you have to travel urgently. They will give it back with nothing in it, no visa, nothing. Currently it just sits there in the envelope. Under lock down the embassy people and VFS don’t do anything. They expressively told me that they won’t lift a finger to process it until the lockdown has been lifted. That’s the reason why some of our applications take very long now.

With a valid TRV, proof that your are married and that you are a PR/citizen, PCR test and a quarantine plan where she can isolate for 14 days in an airbnb/hotel, separate area of your home like basement, etc. she can travel. Depending on where you live she will not have health coverage and that may last for many months so buy health insurance.
