Some important details before my questions.
I'm living in the US indefinitely. My intention was to return to Canada only when summoned by IRCC for oath ceremony. I know the oath may be scheduled with short notice, which is not an issue. Initially, my plan was just to tell them this.
However, my consultant suggested that it may be better to give an "expected date" for returning to Canada, which could lead to 2 scenarios.
Either a) IRCC uses future expected date to schedule oath ceremony. Once scheduled you may just come for the oath ceremony. OR
b) IRCC requests further proof of return (boarding pass/ticket/passport stamp), after which they may proceed with scheduling oath ceremony.
Questions:
Should I just tell IRCC that I do not have an expected return date, but will return whenever summoned for the oath? Would that negatively impact my application (delay/raise concern)?
OR
Should I provide an expected return date and be ready to travel if asked to notify IRCC with proof of return?
Although it's possible, I would prefer not to travel back to Canada just to give IRCC proof of return (then head back to USA on the same day). Seems silly. But willing to do what's best to prevent any delays to my citizenship. Any advice is appreciated!
