Hi
I am applying for a visa as a skilled worker, and hope to immigrate soon

I am married with 2 daughters , 3 years and the other has 4 months

Base in your experience, is it better to arrive alone first and settle down there, find a job and then bring your family or is more convenient to travel all together from the beginning ?

My wife doesn't speak English at all, so, If she travel with me , she wouldn't be able to find a job to help with the expenses

I would be traveling only with 20k $. So, the expenses would be higher if we travel together from the beginning

Thanks

you are absolutely right if you go alone , find out basement there and job too stay there for some . try to bring them back before them expiry of pr visa.
which province u r going to move...?

Hi

I was thinking about Calgary, I have read that it's a little bit easier to find a job there, also, my final goal is to find in an oil and gas industry ( I've been working in the national oil and gas industry in my country for the last 9 years). But, I know the reality, at the beginning I'll apply and accept any kind of job meanwhile I apply to oil and gas companies

I am a mechanical engineer , do you think I would be able to bring my family in 3 months ?

Thanks

Finding the DREAM job depends on how one execute's the job hunt, as you have many years of experience and the place is the best for your sector, so it wouldn't take long in securing a decent job.

as your funds is less, I suggest you should land alone settle down and then bring back your family.

mean while, you can improve on your spouse's language skills which will help you on with expenses.

Good Luck !!!

Valid points here, even if there are no right or wrong answers and it depends on what your circumstances are. You woul be the best judge. However, if your spouse stays back, it is strongly advisable to pick up English as a language. After all that is the language she will need there, even if she doesn't work - shopping, kids's school work, neighbours, utilities etc all would require conversational skills in English. I've known a lot of people who have landed first, followed by family and in some cases, the PA has returned, leaving the family behind and joined them later.

Thanks for your answers

Yes, I think is the best for my family to stay here at the beginning, here they are comfortable, and I think it would be easier for me to move alone

I have been reading a lot, and many people say that for a newcomer , Toronto is an excellent choice to find a survival job at the beginning , meanwhile I look for any job in my area. The problem is, as my main goal is an oil and gas company, most of them located in Calgary, if they call me to an interview and I am in Toronto , I think it could be a problem. Is very far

What about Calgary for a survival job? Is it hard to find one ?
