HI All,
Hope you all are doing good.
My mother has a kidney disease which requires dialysis 2 days /week. I was hoping if she could visit me in Canada for few months . Is there a possibility for her to get tourist visa or if there is any other visa which I can apply ?Also, if anyone can guide me through the process required and the funds requirement which we will have to show in order to make our case strong.

Any help or references will be appreciated.

Thanks,
MS

A visitor visa is the only option. There is certainly quite a high chance she will be refused due to her medical condition.

Have you already made arrangements with a dialysis center in Canada to accept your mother as a patient? If not, you'll need to do this first before you apply for the TRV.

Can you demonstrate that you have the funds required to pay for the dialysis? The costs of dialysis in Canada are very expensive and your mother won't be covered by the health care system here. You will need to pay for everything out of pocket.

Hi manisha13091, did your mom get the Canada visa yet?
I'm now in the same boat. My dad was diagnosed with kidney failure and now is on dialysis 2-3 times a week. I'm hoping he and my mom can visit me in Canada.
Thanks!

You will never know as the OP only posted once two years ago. have you even applied for a visitor? Have you looked at where your father would have dialysis in Canada (especially during Covid) and the cost involved which would be out of pocket?

Your mother can apply on her own to visit you. If your father remains at home that actually gives her a better chance of approval.

Hi Snowflake2012,

I'm also in the same situation. My mother needs dialysis 2/3 times a week and she would love to visit me here in canada. Were you able to find an affordable solution ? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Which province are you in? You need to find out which hospitals / clinics near you are accepting visitors for dialysis treatment. Some do not accept them and some only accept if there is space available and some have waitlists. Here is the list for Ontario if you happen to be in that province:

You'll have to ask the hospital about the charges for the treatment. I have heard everything from $600 per treatment to over $1K. The $600 was from several years ago and I don't know if that's still accurate.

Would add that some dialysis units are full or they won’t have staff for extra patients who don’t have provincial healthcare. Most will also want payment upfront.

Simple question, how do you arrange any vacation/travel for your mother? If she needs dialysis 2/3 times a week, will she be able to take any weeks long trip? You likely have to arrange dialysis with location private hospitals. Or make the trips very short.

It's not easy for hospital in Canada because they are publicly funded. May be you can arrange to visit her instead?

You can do it but it is very expensive and you need to arrange it before travelling. Covid has made healthcare resources much tighter so it may not be possible. It also would be very risky to fly with kidney failure due to covid.

Hi, I am ready to pay for dialysis for my father. Should i mention it in the visitor visa letter ?

Yes, I would mention that and also show a bank balance that can support this. I would also very strongly recommend that before you apply, you find a clinic that is willing to accept him as a visitor and provide documentation from them to support this and payment schedules, etc. It can sometimes be hard to find clinics willing to accept visitors. Do this up front and include as evidence in the application.
