Okay thank you Jianadaren. I appreciate it. I heard that requesting CAIPS notes delay the process, is it true?

Hi! I personally don't think caips can delay process - it's just notes copied from your file. I've read somewhere before that copy of FOSS can delay the process, but not caips. what they do is Ottawa request copy from cic office and then they review it in ottawa (privacy and safety) and then they mail it to Canadian address. simple, noting really complicated for them to delay app process if you order caips notes as is (in the original language) , and you have to interpret the codes yourself. after submitting request for caips noted you can even call ottawa dept. to know when the notes will be ready. cic office will just have a record that you've ordered the notes.

Actually I don't believe either request has any impact on visa processing times. They are processed by ATIP staff based on copies of file info.

From form:
Request for CAIPS or FOSS notes are processed in Canada and can, in most cases, be processed more quickly than
other types or requests. Requests for visa files require the assistance of missions abroad which may increase processing time. [OF REQUEST, NOT VISA]

The "Request for" column on CIC's Access to Information and Personal Information
Request form indicates what information we require for the corresponding information
(ie if you check off the CAIPS notes box on the right, it indicates we require the
embassy location and visa file number). Not providing the required information will
result in an incomplete request letter and delay the processing of your request. [again INFO request, NOT VISA]

maybe you're right either request won't affect processing time. just out of curiosity, have you or anyone else requested FOSS? I think FOSS have much more info than CAIPS, but not sure if it'll be useful to order it.

I have ordered my first FOSS report recently ;) Not received yet but still normal delay.

back in canada waiting.....

Hello all, I am leaving to see my wife and cordially hope to be able to bring her back with me ;) Good luck everyone!!! ;D

It's been almost 6 months since I've seen my husband. (I'm sure for others it's been longer.) I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions to help cope with the stress of waiting?

Thanks, Lala

My wife has come home save and sound, and is enjoying her new country. everything went very well with immigration in Toronto she had no difficulty's , she landed at 4 clock and came out "the door" 1 1/2 hour later. No more Skype for us!!! It took from July 28, 2010 till June 7, 2011 a little longer then most, but the wait was worth it. I for one learned to have patience. in a couple off months we will have forgotten about the long wait.
We wish everybody on this forum luck , and thank you all for your support. We will watch the forum from time to time.

Awesome Hanmar, My wife made it through everything in 45 minutes max! :D

We have long forgotten about the process and enjoying waking up side by side every day. The best is that it's forever.

Now just trying to limit the amount of money being spent doing things!

My wife is doing English studies and got evaluated into the final level (8) and will be able to complete her certification exam soon (TOEFL). We're polishing up her resume and probably will start applying next week in her studied field. So things and life are processing and all is forgotten, which all of you will also experience shortly!!!

Dmitri, Your time is just around the corner, by next month you will also be in a very good position!

Thanks Jianadaren! Just got a call from the embassy. Apparently, the reason for the delay, was the fact that they've "closed the TRV application and issued an immigrant visa instead" :) So, will find out Monday when we go to the embassy for sure. Will update

Hi paul911, we had a similar situation appliying for TRV in a country of temporary residence for both - got TRV when our application was already in process in CIC - we presented a lot of proof that we needed trv to facilitate travels to Canada by providing booking record of return tickets for both, insurance, joined bank account statement, copy of work mobility assignment - in order to prove that we won't jeopardize trv rules and won't overstay. according to caips notes - it was enough.
you can also try to apply again proving copy of your assignment/your job agreement so it's clear that you will return to Moscow. hope this helps :)

POVL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was definitely my msg yesterday that caused your POVL to happen...I'm sure of it!

CONGRATS DMITRI!!!!!!!!!! :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

Thank you! And to you! One thing I realized from my own immigration process (went through all stages myself:student visa, work visa, pr, citizenship) is the beyond a well prepared and backed package, cic actually does read the cover letters. usually is the best way to communicate your position. Good luck to all and will update Monday.
