Hehe, Well, I did figure it out using VFS, but since you're here Lavender, is it possible to NOT use VFS, and just send her passport visa, I don't know, pony express directly to the embassy? Or do we have to use the services of VFS (thus costing us even more money). Were really confused with this .

you should send your passport to the Canadian visa center (VFS Global) in Russia if she lives in Russia as the PRR ( Passport request )letter states use one of their services in Moscow Tajikistan Kazakhstan e.t.c center do not use Pony express . I don't think it would cost you too much I payed about 80 $ to get my passport to the embassy there and back . If she lives in Moscow its a little bit cheaper if she lives in one of former Union states may be it's a little bit expensive . Keep us updating .Good luck

Yep she'll mail it friday to the VFS center in moscow. Theres none in her city so she has to send it with pony express to the visa center. Also she has to fill a consent form, some contract thing, and pay a fee of 873 Rubles. I guess its their fee for bringing the passport directly to the embassy for you. So thursday she'll go pay the fee at the bank and get a receipt, get new photos (shes paranoid and thinks she needs them again ), and then friday mail everything with a return enveloppe attached.

So hopefully everything goes ok and she's here sometime in late august

I think you can use some other courier service too like DHL I know they have a service like delivering your passport back to you may be their services are cheaper but I am not sure, anyway you know better by the way your process was so speedy the embassy of Canada in Moscow is doing great job.

How long did it take before you received your passport back? My wife sent her last friday (it got to the visa center on tuesday). Any chance of her getting it back in by the end of july / begining of august? Or wishful thinking? lol))

It wont take too long to receive her passport back in my case it took 7 calendar days however you contact the office and ask she must have her tracking number which she was given by the Canadian visa center so she can track status of her passport on line or ask them personally on the phone

edit: Also how did you go about it for luggage? Did you just pay extra at the airport to bring extra suitcases? Were wondering how that works too XD

It will go very quick It took 7 days for me though I asked them how long would it take to get it back and they said 10 -12 calendar days.

I don't know about luggage I traveled very light I just had one small suitcase with me because I was 22 weeks pregnant by that time so I could't bring all I wanted to bring with me just wanted avoid to carry something heavy I had to buy everything I need here in Canada but I think you have to pay extra fee if your luggage is overweight the charges are depend on an airline company which you to fly with.

The visa center place isn't even giving us a tracking number. We've called, emailed at various places, all they say "you'll get it within 2 business days of us getting it." It's been 1 week now >.>

It's weird I got mine right after they received my passport along with the fee I didn't submit my passport in person I sent it by DHL courier mail the next day my passport along with other documents were at the visa center I was given the tracking number on the same day they sent it to me via e mail. I don't know may be the rules have changed.

I have no idea what they are doing. We email their support they always reply with "you must send us info from way bill info to blah blah", but if you do, they reply with "sorry we cannot help you." What the hell are they doing =\
