I am hearing a lot about Ghost updates. How to identify a ghost update? will we receive any email? or should we keenly observe cic account for changes in the account directly

@Sweshan, Ghost Update - When you log in, the application says it's been "updated" but none of the fields have changed. Once you logout and log back in, the application returns to being "submitted".

It hasn't happened to me though

Hi Guys,

Some more update :

Today morning woke up to 2 new messages in my CIC account notified via email.

1. Request letter to pay RPRF for myself via MY CIC account and have been given 7 days for the same although I have paid Permanent Resident application & RPRF for myself which is $1040 so I assume they might be refering to my spouse for which I have just paid $550 which is Permanent Resident fee and RPRF is still pending. So I will pay $490 RPRF for my spouse and then will attach all 3 my receipt of $1040, spouse $550 and RPRF $490 for Spouse with letter of explanation which fee refering to whom and the date.

2. Remedical request for my Spouse whose medical expires on 23rd March, 2020. Found this little weird as it still has got more than 2 months to expire. So will get new date for the appointment and from there Doctor will upload the results which I believe is anywhere between 7 to 14 days post medical exam. They didnt ask for my remedical inspite of it expiring on 22nd January, 2020.

I am assuming these are the 2 final steps followed by PPR.

Posting this positivity updates to get the vibe attracted to YOU yes YOU who is still waiting to hear anything.

I wish the best for everyone who are still waiting.

They are working on Jan/Feb 2019 batches.

So keep your hopes high.

Cheers!

Hi all,

Just to give you a quick update on my application. My AOR was 5th March 2019 and only on the 6th of Jan 2020 I have received the passport request email. The visa office was Montreal.

I ordered my GCMS notes on 18th November 2019 and it showed that my file was stuck at Job Description since July 2019. So I sent my detailed job description along with the job contract on 20th December 2019.

I have submitted my passport to Canada High Commission and will soon be flying to Toronto this month.

I wish you all the best and hope the good news is on the way for you all.

Also, my application page on CIC still shows my eligibility is under review and that they still haven't started my background check. So dont stress if you dont see updates in your application. I am sure Montreal visa office isnt good at updating.

Good luck!
Did you get request for re-medicals?

Hello All,

We are in a tricky situation and looking for an advise.

I'm currently working in United states. My husband was in Canada on his work permit when we applied for PR (AOR JUNE 10th). I am the primary applicant since our score was much higher with my work exp and IELTS scores. My Husband's work permit ended and he couldn't apply for extension since he's not the primary applicant on our PR application.
Due to unexpected reasons we had to travel to India and we both are back in United states now (I hold H1B and my Husband is on visitors visa). He had to leave Canada immediately leaving behind his car and other belongings.

Can he apply for Visitors visa from USA while PR application is in progress? Will it have any impact on existing PR application? I hold a Canadian visitor's visa.

Our PR application is over 7 months and yet Eligibility is in review. Security and criminality haven't started yet. Seeing Montreal's pace we do not expect a decision anytime soon so planning to apply for his temporary visa.

@cansha I would really appreciate your thoughts on this.

You know, I applied for one visitor visa and two separate work permits during processing of PR application (long story - changed jobs hence two work permits). No adverse impact on PR application (I mean, it took 7.5 months for PPR but the GCMS notes did not indicate it is because I applied for four visas for Canada in past 6 months :D) So don't worry, okay to apply TRV. Just mention the UCI and check that you have another application in process

Your husband can apply for Canadian visitor Visa and it wouldn't have any impact on the PR application. However, given your PR application his visitor Visa may get rejected based on dual intent. You may have to prove that he intends to leave Canada soon.

thanks for the reply. What was the decisions on your other visa applications? I have heard high rejection rate on TRVs while PR is in process.

Sorry I've been MIA I basically got really depressed because my life was literally in limbo.

Finally got my passport request after 11+ months.
I want to thank everyone who was able to answer the numerous questions I had. (@cansha)

My timeline is in my signature but basically my file was in Montreal and from what I saw in my notes the delay in processing could be from my name difference or previous visa refusal in different countries. I plan to order another set of GCMS notes after I receive my passport so I can try and figure out what really caused the long processing time.

Now my new dilemma is I will not be able to take advantage of some pre arrival services because I have less than 2 months to get to Canada unless my medicals were extended.

To those still waiting my advice to you will be to continue living your life especially if you have no reason to believe your application will be rejected (So I don't sound like I'm just pandering, the main reason I couldn't do that is I had to stop working in January and leave the US in April and I couldn't work in the private sector in my field in Nigeria because I hadn't done my mandatory 1 year service and I knew in the back of my mind that even if I started, I wouldn't complete it because it would overlap with me moving to Canada so it was a non-starter)
Hello Everyone,
I finally got my GCMS notes to find out if anything special happened while I was waiting for my application to be processed.

Here is what happened since I was put in review required in October 2018 (because I said I had been refused a visa in the past):
10/30/18 Householding completed (I had a different UCI from when I applied for a student visa 10 years ago)
02/10/19 Employment update received (I had to leave my job in the US because my visa expired I was just being up front with IRCC)
05/25/19 OFFICER REVIEW: Gave me the all clear and said the only thing left was to verify my residence in Nigeria (I had moved back home because my visa expired do they needed me to send my entry stamp on my passport)
06/10/19 Request letter to confirm my address
06/25/19 Medical extension granted (thankfully)
07/02/19 PPR letter

Even though the process took almost a year, in hindsight, I should have used the time to do other things instead of stressing. Don't make the same mistake I did because once you arrive in Canada your new source of stress will be finding a job.
