Uh...it's actually now 27 plus months. It hasn't been 18 months for a very long time.

Er, why are they up in arms about Trudeau. He just got into office, how is he responsible in any way for the long wait times? The wait times have been very long for inland for years.

Those twitter comments are ridiculous.

When i say 18 i mean Inland first stage. Most people seem to be getting SA/AIP 17 months for Inland Stream.

I should have clarified this.

Hopefully you realize that the only reason she tweeted this is because she is a conservative party member and they are no longer in power. A few months ago she would have been on the opposite side and would have said the wait times are reasonable. She effectively has no sway since the liberals have a majority. Forget about getting the support of conservatives - it means nothing. You need to get the attention of a liberal MP. Anyway - liberals have an easy out here. They'll just blame the processing time on the conservative administration and reiterate their immigration platform. Sorry - this tweet really gets you nothing. It's just noise.

I feel bad for anyone having to wait a long time for their spouse to get PR, but I wonder why the OP chose to apply inland when he is an American. He couldve applied outland while arriving as a visitor, or apply for an OWP separate from his PR app.

Also people are given the choice to go inland or outland, and its well known how long inland apps are. Apply outland and get a visitor visa to wait out the process. You have the benefit of being w ur spouse while having a speedy processing time so your spouse can get working soon

Yep. OP was advised by this forum in August of 2014 to withdraw the inland application and apply outland instead. Didn't do that. So here we are. Would have had PR a long long time ago with outland.

It doesn't help when even immigration experts get it wrong:
http://www.canadim.com/canadian-spousal-sponsorship-inland-vs-outland/

Outland Sponsorship:

Outland sponsorship is when the Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident applies to sponsor a spouse who is not currently residing in Canada. Given the fact that Canada’s immigration system strongly supports family reunification, the upside of outland sponsorship is that it is processed faster when compared to inland sponsorship. The downside of outland sponsorship is that living in Canada together will most likely be difficult or impossible until a positive decision is made on your case by the visa officer.

I'll say it again. CIC does NOT make it crystal clear that a person that is in Canada, can (and perhaps should) submit an Outland application. The language in the Inland Guide `eludes' to this, somewhat, but would it kill them to add this:

If you are in Canada, and plan to remain in Canada during the process, you can submit an Outland application.

As stated before though. I kept with Inland as i was working, and would be able to continue working through the process. Everyone has different circumstances, and reasons why they might choose Inland vs Outland. This thread is not meant to judge me or remind me why i shouldnt have done Inland vs Outland. It simply made the most sense in my circumstances. the protesting is for all Streams of Family Class Outland and Inland.

My purpose was to share what it is we are doing, and wanted to share our stream being mentioned today. Noise, or whatever it is still important to share when something comes up. My goal is to help improve the processing times.

Those that do want to participate in Montreal feel free to participate. I appreciate all the other conversations but it does little in any meaning for the Thousands of people in waiting, and those are the people we should be fighting for, Inland or Outland it makes no difference.

Again thank you for your reminders, and again thank you for working with others here on these forums. Hope to see alot of you in Montreal!
