Me and my sweetheart are not rich. I've read where there isn't a income requirement for him to sponsor me once married, but once I am landed he'd have to prove he can support himself (is that right?). I have started my savings account and thankfully in a situation that I can put away extra money for us. What should we be concerned about money wise? Im in the US visa exempt..outbound. if approved, how do they contact for me to go to him and how soon will they allow me to work? Thankfully I work for a man in the US whose wife is from China and I have been able to travel. Thanks in advance for advice.

You guys have to show in the application that you will be able to support yourselves without welfare. This can be shown through any combination of your income, his income, savings, letters from family pledging financial support, a solid plan of how you will manage etc.

You will receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence in the mail and will need to land in Canada as a PR. You can work as soon as you get your SIN.

No, there is no `official' minimum required but as canuck_in_uk told you, you need to show CIC how you/he will be supported without the use of social assistance.
