Hallo there

Next year we are going on vaccation and our flight back home has a stopover in Toronto so I applied for a Transit Visa in germany. I have send my Passport to the visa application center in Berlin and they collected also all information. When I recieved my Passport back I realised that they made a mistake as the validity does not reflect my initereray so the granted transit visa doesn't help at all. I informiered the Vienna Immigration Team who has given me the visa. They agreed that there has been a mistake and told me to send in again my Passport to the visa application center in Berlin what I did. The Problem is that the VAC in Berlin refuses to do something and are asking to pay over again all fees for their Service and the courier fees which is about 50 EUR. Honestly I cannot unterstand why I should pay those fees again as it was not my mistake. The VAC sais it is not their mistake and the embassy in Vienna says transit visa is for free and they dont ask for fees and have nothing to Do with the VAC fees as VAC is a private Company. I complained a few times and told them that I Expect the embassy to pay those fees as it was their mistake with my Granted Visa.

Now my Passport is hold by VAC in Berlin and they want me to pay or they wont send my Passport to Vienna Immigration or to my place home.

This cannot be really serious I haven't done anything wrong and now they Expect me to pay twice for a free transit visa. What can I Do? Please Provide advice because I am a Student and 50 euro is really a matter for me

Sorry this happened to you, and it really is unfair as it’s not your mistake, but you have no choice but to pay the VAC if you want your updated visa. As explained to you, the VAC is a private third party, so they’re a for-profit business, unlike the Canadian visa office/embassy.

If you want to keep fighting, you only deal with the VAC, but it doesn’t sound like they can be swayed. Don't expect the Embassy to pay for your fees either, as you are not entitled to anything from Canada, and a transit visa is a privilege.
