Hello folks, My status is in Progress since July 2017 and my family's status (spouse and 2 daughters) is the same since March 2017 since we did not apply together. Is this normal? We have been in Canada for more than 5 years now...

Hi everyone,

Looks like Mississauga Applicants suffer the most from this long waiting. Someone suggested before to proceed with a petition raising a concern on the delay for Mississauga applicants but he didn't proceed with it. If you support it, I will start, proceed and file the petition. Please let me know.

Most of Mississauga applicants have been penalized two times as a result of the 4 years rules and again with the backlogs after coming back to 3 years rules.

I was reviewing the other areas applicants sheet and some applicants reached at the oath stage. This is very unfair!

My timeline :

Location: Mississauga
Application Type: Family (4) - 2 adults and 2 kids
Application Sent: August 8, 2017 (via courier)
Application Delivered: August 10, 2017
AOR: September 15, 2017
Processing: September 18, 2017
FP for one adult only: October 3, 2017
FP sent: October 11, 2017
FP received: October 18, 2017
Test invite: waiting
Citizenship Test: waiting
Decision made: waiting
Notice for Oath Taking: waiting
Oath Taking: waiting

You are wrong, Missisauga is way faster than Scarborough, in fact there are people applied in July in Missisauga and have received oath invites in Scarborough while Scaborough people in June still waiting. They will just tell you each case is different, the fact that you received FP seems to suggest that your application is non routine which may be delayed more than normal waived FP applications

It is likely that Mississauga is slower because there is a high volume of applicants. Ontario has a high population and a high immigrant population. Mississauga would serve a huge portion of the Ontario applicants. It makes sense therefore that things are slower. Just a theory - no one will ever really know the truth.
To the point of the poster above, there isn't really any point in creating a Mississauga thread as the timeline can only be observed, not controlled and the way to do that is through comparison of other locations
Missisauga office also cover BRAMPTON which has a huge share of immigrants to Toronto, they backlog will certainly be higher than other areas except for Scarborough which also have a high density of new immigrants from the York region. These 2 offices are the worst in entire Canada, especially Scarborough which is typically 2-3 months slower than Mississauga

Mississauga office is on the path of improvement because it added 20 Citizenship ceremonies for the month of February and is having Citizenship ceremony every weekday in February.

Well, I would say it's entirely luck as there was an applicant who applied on 30th Jun 2017 and got his oath and citizenship on 19th Dec...so it's just pure luck
