Once the background check is complete, interview is the next step or there are things in between as well? Update from MP says, BG is complete and now just wait for the test call. It's been 8 months since I applied

1) I don't trust the MPs. For all I know they're just pulling a fast one.
2) Test/interview could still be held-up due to BF dates and queue. But yes, it is the next step.

With MPs, it's just that they have a quicker line to get the status update.

This statement is not really accurate, since some people get test first , then background check

My MPs office told me I should get the test invite within the next 2-3 weeks, and “if not, contact them again” - and I have a feeling I will contact them again ... and today I am entering my 12th months since submitting my application

Our passport applications are ready and we're clicking our photographs tomorrow >here< :D
As others have said, if you can, you should apply in person at a Passport Canada (instead of Service Canada).

I applied for regular processing on a Friday 15 minutes before closing time (4 pm) at the North York office. Canada post left me a note at my door to pick it up on the very next Tuesday at their nearest location (Shoppers Drugmart)... picked it up the same night. When I open the passport, the date of issue shows the very day I submitted the application... Friday! Which means they processed it within 24 hours without me paying for pick up or express service. They didn't even call any of my references, neither my guarantor. Smooth process!

O'yes, I keep advising the same to everyone ~ never Service Canada. Next day morning* I'm hitting PPC at Gillingham Dr.

*I'm expecting e-CAS would depict 'Completed' by end of the Oath day.

LOL! I completely understand. It’s not easy to wait when you observe that a lot of people, even those who appplied 3 months after you have already take their oath. There’s nothing someone can tell you to make you feel better, but one thing is sure, you will soon be done with this process my friend.

Quick Question to Experts in the group.

I have applied in 9 months back (Mississauga) and have not received my Test date, IP since April 7. Question is, when should i approach MP, asking about my application status after 9 month, 10 month or after 12 months.
I know some of us are waiting from 11 -12 months or even more, if you would like to share your experience
Would you recommend submitting a web forms or calling them over phone etc helps ?

Doing all those hasn’t helped my case, but doing noting won’t help either - ultimately it’s your call ...

At this stage, I'd simply order the GCMS notes. Its free, doesn't require much effort. Based on the info you can call them or go to MP when its close to 12 months.
