Dear All

Some people are advising staying near don mills North york, others are saying Square one in Missisauga -- which one is more suitable with regards to

1. Rentals
2. proximity to discount grocery etc and other offices (SIN, PR, OHIP)
3. Public transport

I feel missisauga does not have any underground transport, thats why im preferring North York Don mills area -- Someone said one has to have a car in missisauga . . is that true ?

Also north york is closer to cheap wholesales like wallmart, chinatown, etc

On the other hand i feel cheaper one bedroom basement apts will be more abundant in missisauga..

Kindly advise

Thanks

You need to understand that Mississauga and North York are large areas, and you can not make blanket statements when comparing them. Yes, parts of North York do have access to the TTC (underground transport), but others do not. Similarly, if you live close to a Go station in Mississauga, you can easily get downtown, whereas if you live deeper into Mississauga, that may be difficult.

AS for which is more suitable for rentals, there is really no way to answer that. Get onto mls.ca and see what is available within your budget in both areas. There will be public service offices (Service Ontario) in both areas, and Mississauga will generally have more big-box retailers such as Wal Mart because of its suburban nature than North York.

You can survive without a car in both areas by taking the bus, but it really depends on your preferences and nature.

torontosm is 100% right by the way Mississauga also has a chinatown is that's important to you.
If you want to know what's cheaper to live then your answer is Mississauga.

Rentals are very subjective subject for both places that you are asking for. If you are ok with basement then go with Missisauga as it will definitely be cheaper. For various reasons many ppl don't prefer basements but they can stay in a 1 bedroom condo.

You will get groceries and all other offices in both places and both have all chain retailers that you are looking for. I would say life and stay in North york is more fast city type life since condos are in majority here with easy access to subway, transit and other means of transport.

On the other hand Mississauga is pretty big area with pockets of residential type areas with houses, town houses and some area with condo in majority.

There is really no bad choice here. Both are good areas and will suffice your needs.
