Missed email for extra PR fee, application cancelled. Help!

A few weeks after filing my application for PR under the CEC stream, I missed an email from the IRCC asking for the payment of an additional PR fee. On July 15, I received a letter saying my application had been cancelled.

But it gets worse... my previous work visa (IEC) has expired. I'm currently on implied status, awaiting a bridging open work permit tied to my PR application. I can continue to work for as long as the BOWP is in process, but as soon as it's denied (which it certainly will be, since my PR application no longer exists) I'll be illegal. I'll have to leave my job, face the uncertainty of getting a flight home and pay for my own quarantine when I arrive in my own country.

I've filled out the web form to see if my PR application can be re-instated. I've also re-entered the pool for EE, in the hopes of tying the BOWP to a new application, but the most recent cutoff (478) was four points higher than my score (474). Unless it drops, I won't get an invitation.

Has anyone had any success having an application reinstated? Or any advice on what else I could do, or how I might word an additional submission using the webform? It seems crazy that I might have to leave a good job and fly home during the pandemic all because I missed one email.

You cannot have an application re-instated unless IRCC admits a crucial mistake - not your situation. Re-establish your profile and hope for the best.

Agree, the re-instating may not be possible. Also, you need to consider restoring your status besides EE since you are not on the legal status right now.

Well, you are in status (implied right now). If you got an invitation right away and were prepared to upload your documents in a giant whoosh your new file might beat the BOWP decision. It has to get through the R10 check.

Thanks mate, I'll just have to hope for that. There should be a draw Wednesday so I just have to hope it's for CEC applicants/the all programs cutoff comes down a bit. Will be ready to upload all my docs the day I get an invite. I've seen some people in a similar position posting about having success linking their new application to their old BOWP application, so will give that a go. Wish me luck!

Final Q: if the cutoff doesn't come down tomorrow, do you think the draw in two weeks is a possibility? Or will the BOWP likely be processed before that?

Your BOWP application has been void since the PR application has been terminated. As I said you should consider restoring your status.

But I can't restore my status if my IEC visa has expired can I? The visawhisperer and others have said that I'm still on implied status until the BOWP has actually been denied?

@axmcc : You can restore your status from the 90 days from the date of application canceled letter. Your BOWP is invalid now. You can apply for restore your status to visitor. You will 100% get it.

Good news is for you as Government has recently announced on July 14th that you can restore status on or before Dec 31 2020.

I would also suggest a prepare a letter of explanation and paid fees and attach receipt with that letter and send it to via web form. You will get positive response. I previously did it so advising you to try your luck.

The BOWP depends on your PR application. Once the PR application was rejected or cancelled, your BOWP will be invalid even it was approved. You may try to restore your previous IEC status and find another job for a new work permit. Currently, the implied status can work for a different employer even if your previous work permit is a closed work permit. But before that, you need to restore your status in Canada.

Thanks Shomaro. Sorry for being daft, but I'm a bit confused. The open work permit associated with my IEC visa has expired, so if I apply to restore my status, it'll have to be as a visitor, won't it? So to continue working I'll need to get a new temporary work permit while I wait for my new PR application? And a temporary work permit would likely require an LMIA? (I think my employer would be willing to do this).

If there is no work permit application made (other than BOWP) before your IEC visa expiration, it is only possible to restore as a visitor. In this case, you are not on implied status anymore.

I would suggest filing the restoration as soon as possible. Meanwhile you may find another job and get all the paperwork processed in parallel (such as possible LMIA) and then when the restoration approved you can apply a closed work permit from within Canada.

It's a hard time, but Canadian government is always providing a way for people with difficulties. Good luck!

Hi.. I m sorry to hear. I am also in the same situation except that I am an Outland applicant. I also missed an email from the IRCC asking for the payment of an additional PR fee. On July 15, I received a letter saying my application had been cancelled. I currently started a new profile. Hoping to get ITA. Best of luck to you.
