Minimum insurance coverage required?

Its $100K for super visa, but what about for normal visitor visa applicants?

Insurance isn't actually required for a regular TRV.

Great, because I just purchased a $150K policy :-\, well it's better to be safe than sorry I guess.

The insurance being optional is a bit of a surprise, I figured considering they didn't even list it as a requirement. Oh well, at least I won't have to worry about any unexpected medical bills, at least maybe adding it to the application would increase her chances of being approved by a bit.

I don't think you did a wrong choice. Like you said it's better be safe than sorry, especially when something happens and you need to see a doctor. 150k will certainly be enough to cover you for the whole duration of your stay you can get a refund in case you leave Canada before the insurance expires anyway.

Yeah but, I probably would've chosen like $50K, it would've saved me $40. The agent gave me 3 options to choose, I asked him to hold on while I search my phone to see what's the minimum insurance requirement. On google, it only shows me super visa results, nothing on regular TRV. So I played it safe and chose $150K coverage. My wife's only planning to stay 3 weeks.

Haha no not yet. We will send the application in 10 days, even though we know she's from Vietnam and there's a good chance she will be refused because she's married to me, we are confident because just like the PR application, we've made a very comprehensive and detailed TRV package to convince them she's a genuine visitor.

Great just to clarify on this issue. For visitor visa insurance is not a requirement some countries like the UK, USA, Australia etc... have insurance visitors can purchase in their home country. The insured sum is over a million, for example in the UK you can buy a policy for 10 million pounds. If this option is available I recommend clients buy the policy in their home country, Canadian insurers will only insure up to $150,000 or $200,000 depending on the company, this is ok but the insured sum is still very low compared to a policy one can buy in their home country.
