I'm an 14 years experienced Indian national working in USA in software job for a bank. I wish to move to Canada with my Family of 4 (includes me) and work there in IT. Can you please let me know the process for migrating to Canada from USA, like visa type i need to apply and how long it might take to process. How to apply for jobs in Canada and at what point in visa process I need to apply? Can I apply for job using visitors visa and gain work permit after i get an offer? Should I apply visa for the entire family or just for me at this point? Joining a full time will be easier to migrate or joining a consulting company will be easier?

You can apply for a job as a visitor. However in order to actually work, you need a work permit. To qualify to apply for a work permit, you need a full time job offer from an employer in Canada and also an approved LMIA from that employer. It tends to be very difficult to find employers willing to go through the LMIA process.
There's no way to find out which employers are willing to go through the process - and no, you can't do your job search based on this criteria.byeusa said:
