Guys,

Anyone of you travelling/travelled through the USA? Do you need a C-1 visa a.k.a in transit visa? How long does it take to get one? Pls help me out here. Thx
My advice is for you to try and buy that flight without touching the US. Here is why:
1-Applying for a transit visa is 160USD
2-The processing time varies depending on the country of residence
3-Can be a stressful process and some countries even require an interview!
4-Uncertainty, you don't know if it will be approved or denied.

So yes, I would recommend that you look for a direct flight to Canada (add the 160 dollars and it will probably be the same price -the stress and uncertainty)

Then in a couple of months, after landing you or your spouse can apply for an US multiple entry B1/B2 visa that will be most likely approved for 10 years.

I would agree with sneakydrivers advice. It's a lot of hassle and too many unknown factors to go wrong for the first time.

Hi Sneakydriver and KloveG!

Thank you both for your great replies. I will certainly take them to heart. I will avoid travelling through the States altogether. Cheers!

Hey guys sorry to bother again. When sending letters from family, receipts or other extra supporting documents in Spanish, did you certify the copies too?
All documents need to have a translation from Spanish to English. You can have an unofficial person translate it, if it's just letters etc. But it has to be sworn that it is true/right basically and then the person who translates it must sign and be witnessed by a lawyer or a proper official authorized to do that.

Oh yeah, they’re all officially translated! My question is, I’m sending photocopies of them, not the originals. Do I have to certify the photocopies?
You don't need those kinds of things certified. The only things that require you to have them certified is like government documents (birth/marriage/divorce certificates). Letters from family, receipts etc just need the translation.

Thank you so much, you’re a life saver! We’re sending the app either this week or the next and I’ve been an anxious wreck. I’m double guessing everything and double checking everything like crazy.
You are welcome! I remember being in your shoes exactly a year ago. It was so stressful and just second guessing everything. Finally after checking about 30 times I just put them in the envelope so I'd stop! lol
Now today I am anxiously awaiting my husband to get here next week :)

You need to buy a return envelope basically, and include it in the envelope that you are sending your passport in.. know what I mean? So that the VO can just use that envelope to send it back to you.

Hi Cindy,

Go through DHL. They know what to do. Your husband needs to pay for a return envelope in which his passport will be returned to him with the COPR. For $165 you pay for both the 'envío' envelope and the 'regreso' envelope.

Know what I mean? I hope that helps. Cheers!

We finally got in contact with DHL the service they use is RPA which is the prepaid airway bill its basically like a prepaid envelope what they do is sent the passport to mexico, and once its ready immigration notified us, then we notify DHL they send my husband a doc he had to sign authorizing them to go pick up the passport and they'll charge him for the return once the passport lands and he goes to pick it up. Its so confusing but hopefully evrtything works out for you

Quick question! My husband will hopefully be getting his passport back next week, im scared to buy him just a one way tkt
To canada and have him be bombarded with questions at the airport in Guatemala as to why only one way since he'll only have the visa on his passport not P.R apparrntly u gt that once u land, should i buy him a roundtrip or will he get additional documents attached with his passport that'll be enough to prove his PR status for a one way tkt?
