#1 - It all depends on his specific circumstances. He will have to proove strong ties to Mexico in order to get approved. #2 - I think something like that would work against him. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but having a Canadian girlfriend already shows ties to Canada and in their minds increases the liklihood that he'll overstay his visa. I don't know that they'll believe that he'll go back to Mexico if you state your intent to marry in the application. #3 - Visitors visas are usually pretty quick to process. About 3 weeks. #4 - First step would be to go to immigration canada website to find all of the forms and read the instruction guide that will tell you all of the papers you need to provide to apply. Just so you know, this section of the forum is for people applying for perminant residency, there is a whole section for visitors visas and the people over there would probably have more experience with it. We can still help you over here, but I just thought you should know.

Thank you for your response!

I guess I wasn't clear like I wanted to be we would be seeking permanent residency but is that difficult given that we are not married and have not lived together. Our plan is to get married but would like to spend sometime together prior to that as well. sorry if I am unclear I am trying to figure this all out.

Thanks for any input

That's ok. If you are planning to eventually get married and apply for pr you can start gathering all of the 'evidence' (proof of relationship) right now. Always take pictures when you are together, keep your phone bills/print off the skype call history every month, keep letters and emails you send to each other, keep plane tickets and proof that you have visited each other. It can be hard work trying to get all that stuff a year or two from now, trust me. Lol

My husbands passport is on it's way back to Costa Rica.. It should arrive by Friday. Finally the wait is over. His passport arrived March 21 at the embassy.. We are so excited.

Hi, it was mentioned in the letter " Your visa will expire on 04/04/2014. If the validity of your passport or the passport of any accompanying family member expires before this date, your visa will expire at this earlier date. If it is the case, that person may wish to apply for a new passport"

Hello Tna , did you got your passport back ?

How have you e-mailed them (direct email, reply to an e-mail they sent you, case specific enquiry)?

Do you have confirmation that your passport was received (e.g., signature receipt from courier company)?

Regarding the expiration date, they'll extend the date before sending you the visa (or should do so at least). If you did your medical exam within the last 15 months, the visa officer can request the extension automatically from the Regional Medical Office.

I got my Passport request on April's fool day ;D I sent it back and they received it on April 3rd.

In the letter I received it says "Your visa will expire 2014/09/06 .

Does that mean September 6th or June 9th?

I think it means I have until June and not September to get there. Any ideas?

I don't want to send another email and ask........

Should be September. My visa was issued on January and My visa expires on May. But double check. Thats is just my opinion.
