I have a question about how long after sending thr PGR should we expect to wait before hearing from CIC. We sent my wife's PGR on March 2. It was received at CIC Mexico on the 3rdiIt's been 6 weeks now and we haven't heard anything. Does anyone have first hand knowledge on how long before we get some news eg. (PPR)? I sent an e-mail to the visa office in Mexico and they sent me the usual info. "Your PGR has been received and is in queue for processing....... Anyone have any idea? We're getting restless.
They received my husband's PGR in January and we haven't heard anything yet and when I try and email them to find out a timeline they only reply "your application is in queue and will be processed in the order it was received". We applied in May 2014 and I am getting really frustrated. We thought my husband would be here by February. We have a young child who hasn't seen his dad for over 8 months you think that would speed the process up. :-[

Congratulations to you. A quick question. You sent in your PGR on March 10, 2015? Is that correct?

We are also May 2014 applicants. We get the same response when I email the visa office - in fact, they say they can't give us an estimate of a timeline even.

Are you able to get the GCMS notes of your file? The file may be stuck with the same officer or section of the VO as ours is.

Are you kidding? I've heard of a couple from Jamaica who had 3 kids and were denied and had to appeal. With posted times being what 17, 18 months I think we should all be expecting to wait at least a year.

Yeah, it doesn't matter if you have kids, if your spouse lives in a war zone - they will not speed up the process. If a realistic average timeline is one of at least 12 months, they should quit misleading applicants by saying the average processing time for the Mexico VO is 6 months on their AOR letter then. We're already at 11 months.

Hi Canzanillo, just wanted to let you know that our file wasn't updated as meds received in ECAS until after we received AOR2. So i'm sure you're fine.

On another note, I just got a call from the Embassy in Mexico asking me when I'm going to send the updated Background Info form which they requested a month ago! I paid $30 to mail it from Toronto via Canada Post- registered mail and it still hasn't arrived a month later! The lady from the Embassy was nice and explained that we could email the form because the mail system in Mexico isn't very reliable.. Not sure why they didn't state on the original request that we could send it by email, but oh well.. We're now delayed a month, so I'm not feeling great. Bah this is such an emotional process!

That was nice of them to call you ;D

You can e-mail them or send a case specific enquiry (https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/case-cas-eng.aspx?mission=mexico).

Hope this creates movement for you...

We sent my fingerprints to the Mexico City VO via Canada Post in September so that they could get my PGR for me and in mid-October they emailed to ask for a copy of the airway bill because they hadn't received my fingerprints yet. We had to re-do my fingerprints and send them in late October via Fedex. I later found out that the first set of fingerprints we sent in September were not delivered until mid-December!

AVOID sending anything through Canada Post to the Mexico City VO - it's *very* unreliable. If you're lucky your mail may be delivered in 2-3 weeks (as happened when we sent my RCMP criminal record check) but if you're not, you could be waiting months.

Thanks for your comments. If we don't receive notification that they received our meds documents along with AOR2 then I will email them to stay on top of them... to the degree that one can...

Sorry to hear that your forms didn't arrive. The only way I would send documents to them from Canada, or Mexico for that matter, would be via courier like DHL. DHL is the courier company that is used by the Canadian Visa office in Guadalajara, therefore I imagine also between Canadian Visa offices within Mexico. It would have cost approx $60 to send via DHL, however good to know that you can email such documents as well. Hopefully now things will move along quickly for you!

Spreadsheet update:

I have added a new column at the end of the spreadsheet for you to enter your destination in Canada. It's not critical information, just interesting.

I am considering adding another column for the date that PGR was requested (if applicable) to show how long it is taking from request to PGR sent date. Does this interest this forums members?

Yes, I received the notes today. 70 pages of mostly useless information. Medical is approved, security in progress and eligibility not yet started. Nothing unusual in the comments. Were your notes more useful?
