Can I translate e-mails, plane tickets and hotel reservations or do they also have to be done at a university?

I have some questions about the forms and evidence needed for the permanent residency. I am Canadian and live in Mexico with my Mexican wife. We are applying outland. We have no kids so I assume we don't fill out the additional dependants form. I am a non-resident so do I need to provide proof of job/income? Now for evidence we have e-mails,photos,hotel reservations, plane tickets, envelopes sent from Canada to My wife and sent to me at the same address here in Mexico. We also have a rental agreement, life insurance policy with both our names on it and driver's licenses with the same address. Now my question is about translation. As we live in Mexico, everything is in spanish so I realize it all has to be translated. Does everything have to be done by a university and certified or can non-official things like e-mails be translated by me? Any help would be appreciated

I would translate everything with a certified translator, if possible. We had our lease agreements and rental receipts translated from Spanish to English. If the translations aren't certified, it may leave some doubt as to the accuracy. If you can't translate all of them with a certified translator, I'd start with the ones you think will make the biggest impact on your application (those most important to convincing the person reviewing your file your relationship is genuine).

Everything official will need an official translation but if you have personal email, chat logs, letters as part of your evidence it can quickly become unaffordable to have it all translated officially. I have heard multiple people on this forum who have translated letters, chat logs, and email themselves. One particular that I remember said that she included a letter explaining that due to cost she translated the following items herself but if it were necessary and the office requested it she would have them officially translated. You could do that, I've never heard of anyone going through Mexico who did that, the person I'm thinking of was going through Manila. I guess it would depend on how much evidence that you have. My husband and I have Facebook chat logs but I didn't include that in my evidence, I had pages and pages of skype call history. To me they can see that we talk, they don't need to know what we talk about. I had a lot of other evidence too, the speech I made at our wedding, a relationship testimonial, letters of support from my mom and grandparents, pictures, proof of financial aid, etc etc. if you mostly just have emails and letters though, you might consider getting a few of them officially translated.

Thanks agarand. We don't have a lot of e-mails between us because we live together so obviously we communicate in person. We have lots of photos and e-mails between my mom in Canada and me here also my mom and wife e-mail each othe frequently which i assume shows that there is a real relationship and it is known to my family who are going to support us in Canada until we find work. Also we have a rental agreement, life insurance policy with both our names on it and hotel reservations from 2011,2012,2013 and 2014 all of which I will get translated. We are also going to submit over 200 photos which show us with my wife's family and with my family. We also have boarding passes from previous flights, enveloples sent from Canada to our address here with my name on some and my wife's on others and we have matching addresses on our id''s here including our driver's licenses here. What do you think?

yeah I think that's pretty good. if you can think of anything about your relationship that could be considered a red flag you should directly address that. Examples are.... different religions, large age gap, education gap, etc. My husband and I have a 13 year age gap with him being the older one, I wrote a 1-page letter describing why this doesn't matter and how we are compatible otherwise. lol

With the pictures 200 is lots just make sure you are labelling them well and that they can show the passage of time. I was told by other forum members that for example 30 wedding photos isn't necessary because after the first 5 or 6 they get it, it's proof enough there was a wedding. We concentrated on group pictures with family and friends. I also concentrated on following the main relationship questions on the IMM5490. It asks 'describe the progression of your relationship from when you met until the present' so if I mentioned events or trips in that I made sure I included pictures of those ones. If we were together for birthdays or other major holidays I included photos from that because they can show the passage of time. But only a few from each event. If I ever gave a photo that had only me or only him in it because the other of us was the one taking the picture, I wrote that on the back too.

I don't know what fsw is but for spousal sponsorship I had to send my medical up front. And I also paid all of my fees upfront as well to avoid delays.

I think if no one is answering it is because they don't know the answer.

Maybe they will know in the skilled worker section of the forum?
