Hi! I just received my passport back today! I am really happy about it but I was reading the papers that CIC sent me I noticed it says that condition 51 (living 2 years with sponsor) is applicable. I thought I wasn't supposed to get this as I have been living with my partner for almost 3 years and submitted my application when we had been living together for 2 years and a couple of months. Does anyone know why is that?

I am not an expert but if a person's marriage is real then a 2 year condition shouldn't be a problem. That couple should want to live together and for much more than 2 years.

As of October 25, 2012, sponsored spouses or partners must live with their sponsor in a legitimate relationship for two years from the day they get their permanent resident status in Canada.
This applies to you if:
a permanent resident or Canadian citizen is sponsoring you,
you and your sponsor have been in a relationship for two years or less,
you have no children in common, and
we got your application on or after October 25, 2012.
I guess two years and a couple of months doesn't count. But canexican is right, you have been together 3 years now....so why should two more be any problem?

Because in a year I could start issuing my citizenship as I've been living in Canada for a while now and I'm not sure what happens then if I have a 2 year conditional PR. Do I have to wait an extra year because of that?

on the CIC website it says this:

You must have resided in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) in the past four years before you apply [for citizenship]. This does not apply to children under 18.

You must have permanent resident (PR) status in Canada. Your PR status must not be in question. That means you must not be:

under review for immigration or fraud reasons, or
under a removal order (an order from Canadian officials to leave Canada).

Doesnt say anything about conditions on your PR.

I AM SPONSORING MY WIFE WHO IS MEXICAN. I AM CANADIAN AND WE LIVE TOGETHER HERE IN MEXICO. ON MY SPONSOR FORM IT ASKS FOR PROOF OF INTENTION ABOUT COMING BACK TO CANADA. NOW I THINK THE MOST OBVIOUS IS FOR US TO STAY WITH MY PARENTS UNTIL I CAN FIND WORK AND A PLACE TO LIVE. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MY MOTHER CAN WRITE THIS INVITATION LETTER AND WHAT INFORMATION NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED?

Hey Everyone!!.
Wow its been almost a year since I was last on here!
Anyways most of you probably wont know me but my common-law landed just over a year ago, hence why I haven't bothered to come back on here lol.

But I just wanted to send an invitation out to anyone who is interested.
Myself and quite a few others who are finished the process started a Facebook Group called Mexican Spouses just over a year ago, where everyone with a Mexican spouse is welcome to join and ask any questions about immigration, or just discuss anything to do with living the lifestyle we all share. We also have quite a few members who know the ins and outs of the process that are very helpful. Here is the link, take a look, you are all welcome to Join :)

https://www.facebook.com/groups/442097089166742/

Good Luck to everyone still waiting! Patience is Virtue. ;D

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to share with you my good news. I just received an email from the Embassy requesting my passport!!! Im so excited since I wasnt expecting everything to be done so quickly. Tomorrow will be 3 months since I send my application, so it has been so fast I still can believe it.
My husband came 12 times in a year and I send like 200 photos so I think it helped to prove our relatioship is genuine hehe.

I´ll be moving on July to Toronto :) :D ;D

Well hope everyone recieve good news soon just like I did.

Desi
So how long after you DHL'd your pgr did you get the passport email?

We sent our pgr and right of PR fee last week and hopefully our passport letter comes shortly. Like your situation I visited my wife frequently and we had a lot of emails photos and letters to overwhelm them. :)

Is the pgr the last step before they ask for the passport or could they still want additional documents?

Hi has anyone who applied outside canada to Mexico received their approval yet? I sent out my husbands application on March 18.. They are now asking for his medical to be done along with extra information as well as payment of right to PR. I was just wondering how long after this would it take for my husband to be apporved??

I just got my AOR from Mexico the other day. It says right in the letter that they are averaging 6 months to process an application.

I have a few questions. I am Canadian and sponsoring my wife who is Mexican. We live together here in Mexico. Now when applying outland as we are do we need to get the marriage certificate translated? Also with photos, can they be printed on sheets of photo paper or do they have to be individually printed?

Hey JAMO1973,
We translated our marriage certificate from Spanish to English and had it certified, as I think you should if your marriage certificate isn't in English or French. Also, we sent loose photos, but I don't think it would matter in the end.
