I've been waiting for them to drop the visa restriction.. it was never suppose to be permanent. Although the new Mexican president is a joke, I hope something good comes from thier "talks"

We also filled out the "use of a representative" form but the PGR letter went to my husband's address in Mexico. When the embassy asked us for the PGR they wrote in the request letter (received by email) to send a prepaid waybill as the original PGR letter they send goes by regular mail and takes forever. What people have been doing now is sending the prepaid waybill in advance of the embassy asking for it and that seems to speed things up for them.
You would not be able to get the PGR cetificate to submit with your initial application because you have to wait for the request letter you cant get it without this letter.

This is great news! Don't know if it's going to matter for us as my partner is a failed refugee... but it's going to make a difference for a lot of people.


I'm going to need to find a way to repay this community for the warm welcome and helpful info... not sure, but was thinking I could put together a list of the many acronyms used here (i.e. PGR, AOR, PPR, etc.) with definitions to help newcomers. Or does that already exist?

this is what my wife received today in her email:

This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada. In order for us to continue the processing of your
application, we require the following:
• POLICE CERTIFICATES FROM:
1. MEXICO. You will need to provide both:
- Federal Police Certificate issued by Procuraduría General de la República (PGR) called “Constancia de
Antecedentes Registrales”.
AND
- Federal Police Certificate issued by Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) called “Certificado de
Antecedentes No Penales”
Instructions on how to obtain police certificates from PGR and SSP are at the bottom of this Letter.
NOTE: Mexican state police certificates will not be accepted
• Please submit an updated version of the Schedule A Background/Declaration form (IMM 5669) for you. We
noted that you have failed to cover all time periods required in Section 8 (personal history).
In Section 8, you must provide the details of your personal history for all time periods since the age of 18.
Specifically, you should address the following gap: From 02/1990 to 01/2002.
Furthermore, for all time periods, you must specify the months and years covered by each activity and indicate
your occupation or job title if you were working, or otherwise provide information on what you were doing (for
instance: unemployed, studying, travelling, in detention, etc.). The detailed description should be written in
English or French (indicating that you are simply “employed” is not acceptable).
• Payment of your Right of Permanent Resident Fee. In order to expexpedite the processing of your application, we
require you to provide us a copy of your RPRF receipt. If the fee has not already been paid, please find
instructions on how to proceed at https://eservicesak.cic.gc.ca/epay/welcome.do?lang=en

so...we've already paid and sent the receipt with the file...

the weird thing is she already sent one of these police reports...should she re do it just in case?

I got the same request for the police checks and I think we all get the same, they might have not opened the envelope yet. Did you send the SSP?

When i got mine they asked me to sent a prepaid waybill, which I had already and once I let them know this in an email they used the one I sent, that´s why my guess is then don´t open the Courier envelopes until the due date is up.

Anyway, if anyone else wants to share more I´d see what they have to say.

did you already do your medical? this seems weird because we actually sent one police report along with everything complete and fully paid...they said they received the medical first week of November so they didnt see the payment receipt with the police report?

I had my meds done for the first time on oct 2011 and had to redo them oct 2012. I didn´t pay anything until the asked me in october 9th this year, they ask you to send an email to Mississauga and another one to the embassy in Mexico City, did they ask you to do this?

Does anyone know how and if its possible to ask for an extension for delivering papers to the embassy? My due date is next friday and I don´t think I´ll have everything ready.

Our file is being transfered to Mexico City.
Just wondering how many days or months do we have to wait before the embassy sends us a letter requesting the PGR and SSP for my husband?
Also, how long does the second stage usually take to complete?

Hello,

Does anybody know the process for landing as permanent residence if you already are inside Canadad? Today I went to the Vancouver airport and they told me I need to leave the country and then in the port of entry do this process.

I did all my sponsorship from inside Canada but now I'm confuse in how is the last step.
