My wife is from Monterrey also. She lives in Costa Rica. She got the letter to get the PGR from the local Mexican Embassy in Costa Rica and used that on a vacation to Monterrey to pick it up.(They managed to rush it and we had it in 5 days from the day she went in until the day she returned to pick it up) She also picked up the state police certificate. These were sent in with the original file to CIC in Canada. We had to get the Mexican Embassy in DF to order her SSP which will go directly to her file back at the Mexican Embassy 30-60 days after she requested it. We did this before they requested it because to living outside of Mexico. That's where we're at now. Good luck.
Hey thanks for the comment...I appreciate it. when did you submit the paperwork and what stage are you at so far? I initially submitted our on October 4th. I received an email on November 1st stating "This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2012/10/05 on behalf of the following member"...and then by November 6th I receiver another email stating I had met the requirements for eligibility. Since then I saw one update that "Medical results have been received"...and nothing more.

What part of Monterrey is your wife from? Have you been there?

Good Luck to you and your wife,

My wife is from Guadalupe, Contry la Silla. We were there in June of this year so I could meet the whole family. I'd met my mother in law a couple of times previously and 1 of my new brother in laws but that was my formal intro to all the family.
Our file was received by CIC on July 12th 2012. Sponsorship approval and transfer of file was on 29 Sept.
What part of Monterrey is your wife from?

hahaha...interesting...I went there a few weeks back and we bought a cake from there (Guadalupe, Contry la Silla). My wife is from Guadalupe...its the same city...diferent suburb...10 minutes from her house! I have gone several times over the years. Actually, my wife was my girlfriend 17 years ago, neither of us could really communicate well...there was no internet so we used the phone (and repeated ourselves over and over...te quiero, te amo...) and fax. She was here and then I went there...we dated for 4 months but because of the distance and lack of communicayion it was difficult to communicate...which we all know is important. 3.5 years ago...I was seperated...and she had been divorced for 2 years...she contacted me and we both learned to speak each others language...thank God for skype and msn messenger...we have seen each other once per month or more for the last 3.5 years...its been interesting!

Have you been there often...do you know much about Nortenos...their culture?

now that they have the file is this good enough...or do they have to "get to it" to be considered received?
They 'got it' when the first CIC office received it - in your case, the CPC-M received date. So you should be fine date-wise, it's just a question of whether it's the right documents (hopefully YES!)

BTW, it's really cool that you've known each other for so long and timing/communication/laguage finally worked for your relationship :)

Hi!

I'm looking for a little bit of information and hoping that someone can help me. I will also be hiring an Immigration Lawyer as well down the road but I just needed some information ahead of time!...Basically my situation, I am a Canadian Citizen living in Canada and my fiance is Mexican Citizen living in Mexico. He was just recently denied his visitor visa :( however, we are in the works of planning our civil marriage in Mexico for this winter. It would have been nice to have him come to Canada to visit as we plan to live here afterwards. My question is...I want to make his life easier by jumping ahead with the sponsorship application papers so that when I go down in the winter for our wedding everything will be done and he can just sign the papers. I was a bit confused but then after reading some of the threads it looks like the medical exam which he will have to have done in Mexico City (unfortunately he will have to fly there..he lives in Cancun) is to be submitted with our complete application. I'm assuming the panel doctor will give him the results in a package not to be opened the day he goes for his exam. So I was just wondering if he could get the medical done ahead of time before we get married. That way when I go down I can just bring everything back to Canada and send it all to Mississauga. Or would they happen to see the dates on the medical report and make him do another one because we weren't married at that point. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it!!

I'll try to help...welcome!

he doesnt have to go to DF for the medical...I believe every city has registered doctors for the requirements. also, dont worry about the visa denial...they require info top give them good reason he wont stay here, its not personal, so if he doesnt have a house in his name along with a job and other things that tie him there...its not easy to get. i do think once you're mattied it will be easier but I'm not certain. He can get the medical report while you are in Cancun and upon your arrival to Canada you can submit it with the file...if I'm wrong I hope someone corrects me.

Good Luck,
Dazz13

Actually Dazz, there are only a few DMPs left in Mexico. Since your fiance was in Cancun, there use to be one in Merida that he could have gone to, but unfortunatly they took that out :(

Heres the DMP list for Mexico. Your spouse has to get his medicals done before you submit the application, if you dont have it they will put your application on hold or just send it back from mississauga which will cause you a lot of delays.

Here are the only DMPs your husband can choose from:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medicalinfo.aspx?CountryID=2041&CountryName=Mexico

So essentially, Monterrey, DF, and Cuidad Juarez are your only options.. From Cancun I reccomend Volaris/Vivaaerobus to fly, with enough anticipation the flight will be somewhat economical.

I lived in Cancun and my spouse is from there as well. Quiet a few of us are familiar with Cancun and area.

Congrats on your engagement and welcome!
