I believe so. As a Canadian citizen he will be entitled to entering the U.S. at will, barring a challenge by border agencies. So let's say he's denied entry. What's the harm? It wouldn't extend the 10-year ban.
I wouldn't risk it either if some other process was under way, such as trying to get him a green card but other than that ... what's the worse that can happen?
Also, speaking of red flags, why would one come up? If he never got in any trouble, and given the years that will have passed by then, is it a justified fear that the system would have a cow?
No he isn't entitled to enter just because he is a Canadian citizen. Getting a Canadian passport doesn't get rid of the ten year ban. He is still the same person. And as I mentioned there is the nasty lifetime ban. He isn't in the system in a bad way but you can't live in the US illegally from age 9-32 without there being a record of you.

I've also heard from many Mexicanadian friends that it's always a hassle when entering the USA because they have a Mexican last name/look Mexican. They always get questioned and racially profiled. Go figure ::)

@ mavimolly, how long has it been since you submitted the PGR and SSR?

Kind of a long story for our police certificates as there were some mixups. They sent instructions for obtaining our police certificates on May 17, but it was for outside Mexico even though my wife is inside Mexico. By the time we got that straightened out (2 prepaid airway bills and 3 case specific inquiries later) and got the PGR letter, it was July 12. We submitted them on July 30.

No it isn't mandatory. We didn't get any although it isn't a bad idea.

Oh ok, thanks!

which is so ridiculous!!
because if you have PR in canada or a citizen, why the heck would you even want to stay in the USA, you already have residence in canada.

oh the USA... lol

Oh wow. I was just talking about this yesterday.. What does the inside Mexico PGR request look like, I am assuming they asked you for the informe de datos registrales?

Update on us: SSP has been hand delivered to the Embassy, as well as some additional and updated proof of our relationship. PGR should be ready in two or three days and then will be DHL'd the same day :)

I have a lot of American friends in Mexico right now because of the bans their husbands have on them, it is a really sad situation because once you enter more than once you have a ten year ban, no possibility of waiver. If you entered once, then you could apply for a waiver if you prove you have EXTREME hardship and that you need your husband/wife there.. or sometimes you could just be banned for life. I know this can happen if you claim to be a US citizen when your not, and other things like that (I forget the reasons for a lifetime ban off the top on my head) But if you get the lifetime ban, there is basically no hope that you can ever enter the country again - even if you have a wife, kids, etc that are US Citizens. Very sad and unfortunate :(

Yayy! Our PGR is almost done. Fingers crossed that's the last thing we both need to do! Next step.. approval! (have to think positively!) My husband is actually starting to get excited now. I think it's actually hitting him now, that he will come to Canada.

What sort of ban does the US have if you enter legally and over stay?

I am not sure but I remember it is less severe since the person entered a port of entry. I think I read once that when you enter legally into the US you can stay when you start the PR process, where as if you entered without posistion you would have to leave the country after a certain part of the process and wait it out in your home country.

Yeah it should be, if an interview isn't required. We also submitted additional proof of our relationship with the SSP. So I'm a little less paranoid about him being called for an interview. And if they haven't lost anything along the way.. etc. hopefully all goes well. :)
