Oh that´s gotta be a good sign! Ours was changed to in process while we were waiting for them to send the letter to get the PGR!

Did your son-in-law already submit his police checks?
Oh yes back in March at his interview! Meds were submitted last September too with the app package....fingers and toes are crossed for good news soon...we leave Sunday to go down and see them, I would love to give them the good news in person!!

Do you remember when it showed that about your medicals? When it went in process ?
About three weeks after I had the tests done, I hadn't even given them the receipt and they updated my eCas. Sometime around May 20.

Dont worry about the liberada. The people at the Military office just explained to us in Feb that when its time to go and pick up your marble, send a family member and have them tell them that you no longer live in Mexico so you obviously cannot do the service. I wouldn't worry to much about the Military, in my honest opinion. Technically I think the rules is once you even have a precartilla you need to ask the military permission to leave the country!! Lol. There are a lot of rules in Mexico, but we all know how it is. Dont stress it, trust me :)
I second this: when it came time to get my passport so I could apply for PR (2 years ago), all I had was the precartilla from 1991! It was no problem at all.

[off topic: I'm now a 'proud' ultra-mega-transnational corporation's full-time employee in Toronto! So long, awful staffing agency.]

Yeah 1065 days :)

Basically you apply similarly to how you applied for PR. You get all the forms from their website, pay (like $200 I believe) and send the package to the office in charge of processing citizenship applications. I think it's located in Nova Scotia if memory doesn't fail me.

The application takes about a year, he will have to pass a citizenship test containing different questions regarding Canadian culture, voting system, you know, just basic things all Canadians (should) know, and demonstrate that he speaks either English or French. Then if he passes the test he will be invited to take an oath of citizenship where he will exchange his PR card for a Citizenship certificate.
Sorry to nitpick, Edgarsitow, you short buff bearded Mexican, but it's 1,095 days, since 3 years at 365 = 3x365 = 1,095. Everything else you said matches what I've read before. :)

Woops you're right! Now that I realize I did mean to type 1095 LOL. I had just been back from the gym when I typed that so maybe all the testosterone flowing through my facial hair didn't let me think properly. My apologies Good Sir/Ma'am.

What is his profession? For some, you may need to go through the provincial (e.g., nurses, physicians, engineers) or federal (e.g., pharmacists) licensing process (which would do its own credential assessment). Also, some universities are affiliated with specific credential assessment organizations.

Note also that in the next couple months the field may be changing. The new FSWC (foreign skilled worker class) requirements include education assessment to compare the education achieved with the Canadian system. CIV just kicked off the process so there may be a streamlined process in place that you could leverage by end of this year too.

We FINALLY have hubby's passport in our hot little hands!!! We had an issue with FedEx (they claimed that they tried to deliver it but no one ever rang the bell) but we were able to go to the depot and pick it up. We are so grateful, relieved and happy. Now, it's time to move on to next adventure: crossing the border.
Congratulations! Happy landing :). May you have a wonderful start to your Candian life together.

Meh, we are in such a standstill I have nothing to report, we are having serious financial difficulties getting the medicals done in the time period allowed, so we are trying to make the hard decision to sign the declaration declaring his daughters not part of the family class or just letting our app get denied till we can afford things. If I didnt have a divorce trial happening simultaniously we would be fine but divorce comes with a hefty hefty bill, especially with 4 days of trial. Unfortunately we did not forsee this when we initially applied. So I am feeling very frusturated, irratated and overwelmed with a bit of saddness. I am heading to my hometown today to see my sisters new baby, so I am focusing on that excitment and hoping things are cleared up by the time I get back, its completely out of my control at this point.
I am really sorry to hear that missmymexi. This process is finacially draining on my spouse and I aswell - and we are just the two of us! so I can only imagine. I really hope something comes up soon and please let me know if I can do anything to help!

Well after only two days I have received a reply to my Case-Specific enquiry. This is what CIC had to say:

Dear Mr. ---------,

If you have recently submitted documents or information to this office, we will update your file accordingly.

Due to high application volumes, we cannot acknowledge receipt of every fax, mail or other correspondence (documents or information).

If we require additional documents, we will contact you.

Your application is in process. No further action is required by you at this time. We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.

--------------------------------------------

Gee Thank you so much CIC for your thorough and super informative answer (sarcasm) ::)
