oh...s**t.....my husband has tattoos on his back...front....left calf....right arm and left arm......!!!!
ur husband is from cuba right?
is it "bad" to have tattoos in cuba?

also i was just thinking our friend from peru is a tattoo artist in vancouver and his body is covered from head to toe in tattoos (except his face)... i wonder how long it would have took his sponsorship to go through.. although that was about 5 years ago

my spouse was going to get a big tribal tattoo before we came to mexico and we decided no because it would be hard to get a job. im kind of glad he didnt go through with it now that i heard that story.

WATTTTT!!! that is crazy. why would it even matter if he had a tattoo.
unless he was charged for something. i guess they suspected gang related?
but still this is canada we are going to. everyone has tattoos. i know mexico is a different story.
that sucks!
i really hope your process finishes quickly!
so how long has it been exactly since the app was transfered to mexico city?
For the full history, just go back and read the old posts - way too long and boring for everyone else to be repeated here. Feel free to PM me with any questions though, I'm happy to answer.

At this point, we are just awaiting final security clearance. Everything else seems to be pretty much done. Our case is obviously not on the fast approval track. Oh well, I guess somebody on here has to be the example for longer timelines :) Wish it wasn't us, but it is the end result that counts!

no as far as I know it's not "bad" to have a tattoo in Cuba and I don't think there is a problem..just like really a tattoo......to hold up someone for so long.....just something else to think and worry about....if my husband lands up going for an interview I will make him wear long pants and a long sleeved shirt and no one will be the wise 8)

Don't worry about it. Unless there is some similarity to a gang tattoo, its probably no biggie. But...you never know. In my husband's case they were focused on the initials under his tribal, which were misread to be "AB". Not sure what that means in gang/narco world, but the initials are actually his first and last name (A.R. NOT A.B.) In any case, photos were requested and it obviously flagged a deeper security check. Understandable for security clearance; frustrating for us.

Actually, its the doctor's notes that confirm if there is any "body art".

Yes. I believe I read somewhere that tattoos noted in the medical exam often trigger extra tests for hepatitis.

My husband has a tat on his leg and the doc never reported it. So it depends on the doc.

He's not living in Mexico which likely helps.

True. I thought all doctors are approved by CIC and have the same protocols. So I guess in Mexico tattoos are just a bigger deal? Our doctor was kinda sketchy though. In 2010 he checked my husband out. In 2011, my husband didn't even SEE the doctor at all, not even a glimpse. The assistant took blood and that was it other than the xrays and urine sample. I had been kinda worried about that actually.

If he had been living in Mexico, I can almost guarantee his tattoo would have been noted in the medical exam. The organized crime/gang situation there pretty much demands extra scrutiny on that front. The fact that your hubby didn't even SEE the doc in the U.S. and the fact that he wasn't living in Mexico helped you. To be honest, I think our case has just been one long example of what can go wrong, will go wrong.

Seriously, this has been one yucky, long lesson in patience but at the end of the day we will be stronger for it.

24/08/2012 YAY!!!
Hey guys. I am getting totally stressed out here!! :'( We submitted the SSP 2 weeks ago and have heard absolutely nothing. From what I thought, we should be receiving the PPR by now. We can't figure out what the delay might be. Anyone have any ideas?
